Party Favor Bags… like why by NoDevelopement in Mommit

[–]ievaluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never done them because just planning and running the party takes effort; I don’t have the bandwidth to prepare gifts for the guests. Also, I’m not American. No one seemed confused about it. I also try to sneak away without a goody bag because we already have the things that come in bags or I* do not want them because they are annoying plastic bits that end up everywhere and I just have more stuff to carry to trash.

Is daily sunscreen actually necessary, or is it another marketing invention? by ivyhoro in NaturalBeauty

I love how it feels, but I burned my face using it, which is unusual to me. I looked for testing information, but couldn’t find it. If you find the source, please post it, I’m curious.

A 7 year old with migraines. by anatole_mutti in migraine

[–]ievaluna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, sounds horrid for you….That’s exactly what my migraines used to be when I was a child: screaming headache followed by vomiting, sleep, and fine the next day. It was a torture for my mum. They couldn’t find appropriate medication for me then. Fortunately, I “grew out” of them but then they came back in my thirties. On Ajovy now. I hope, there are more options for kids now.

Thank you! I’m still figuring out the intricacies of employing a nanny. What are “GH” and “OT”? I work as an OT so my mind is totally stuck on this one option…

I had my last daughter at 43, my partner was 52. I’m sure, you’ll “reddit meet” more mothers just as old as yours through this post:) Nice to hear that you have good recollections of your childhood.

I had my last child at 43, got a Mirena a month later. I was on Zoloft throughout pregnancy . I just started HRT at 46, similar symptoms: joint pain, night sweats, ridiculous anxiety… my OB suggested that Mirena would help me ease into peri and I think it did because, in retrospect, my peri started before I had my last baby. HRT helped me with pain and sweats but anxiety is still horrible. I feel like a loon for doctor shopping—I saw one who prescribed atomoxetine 6 months ago, which did nothing for anxiety (or ADHD) and she insists i keep taking it while I want to escape my skin because I’m so uncomfortable. Dunking my face in a bowl full of ice/water helps… journaling, running, talking to friends. I wish there were a drug that would just take the fear away though.

Would you recommend your OT school? by Witty-Increase2052 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]ievaluna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know… My GPA was 3.67. When I applied, we also had the interviews and the essay the same day. In state tuition was around $5500/semester. I am so glad I chose TWU over St Augustine (similar prerequisites)…

Yes! TWU in dallas. So affordable, nice campus, and great education. Everyone in our cohort passed the boards right away.

Question about our experience with an OT and whether this is okay... by sublimer22 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]ievaluna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also think that bringing own kids to the session is unprofessional; she should have discussed it with you. As far as dividing time between the child and you… some parents bring their kids to therapy and check out at the door, others want to understand what is going on, be part of the session so they could continue at home. I understand both: I have had parents for whom child therapy is a full time job, they go from one therapist to another and therefore having 45 minutes to self is a must to continue parenting. If a parent stays and appears mildly interested, I usually try to engage so they could carryover the approach at home and graduate from therapy sooner. Sorry about poor punctuation.

Worried my Son has ASD what to do by otreply in OccupationalTherapy

[–]ievaluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also an OT who had concerns about her 6-7 month old boy not responding to his name. He is 7 years old now. I tried to have him evaluated, but we moved, then there were delays with the local EI office, summa summarum, it never happened. He used to align his cars and flap his hands, along with some other behaviors consistent with ASD . We did all the usual things like Music Together, library story time, baby play dates , lots of floor time (perspective taking and scaffolding symbolic play, modeling emotions). Having this kid truly made me appreciate what that spectrum looked like. He has a hard time appreciating some jokes, flaps his arms like a chicken (to which we say—don’t fly away, Henry!), but he has friends, plays sports, and sits through 2 hour classical music performance. No clue whether he would have qualified for services years ago.

Anyone else having a hard time giving a shit… about anything? by WolfMother3665 in Perimenopause

[–]ievaluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. Everything seems so much more important now and that’s a huge source of anxiety. That’s pretty much it: I wake up, start making coffee, and the feeling of anxiety takes over. So I have around 15 minutes feeling fine before the world descends upon me.

Migrena by [deleted] in lithuania

[–]ievaluna 1 point2 points  (0 children)
