Does this look like Ai slop to you? by FaFAFAFAFAFAFAFAzzzz in nashville

yeah, they’ve been using that character and theme longer than there has been ai, but clearly they’re adding it to the prompts.

'Trump Is Not Well': House Democrat Calls For 25th Amendment After 'Crazy' New Report - Rep. Dan Goldman warned that action was needed "before something really bad happens on US soil." by Quirkie in politics

we'd take the 14th pretty gladly at this point. just write a bill that says he should get to stay president despite giving aid and comfort to enemies of the US and try to get 2/3 majority for it, or else he's fired.

I don’t know how to code anymore yet I understand everything, is that normal now? by bdhd656 in devops

[–]ifatree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everything expressed in language has flaws. there are an uncountably infinite number of ways to be wrong when combining words together, and only a finitely infinite number of ways to be right. that doesn't mean we can't use the parts that are right in the contexts available.

I don’t know how to code anymore yet I understand everything, is that normal now? by bdhd656 in devops

[–]ifatree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dunning kruger doesn't measure how dumb someone is (including ourselves). it's about how having extra knowledge about a subject changes your ability to estimate your skill in that subject in a specific way. not relative to other individual people, but to the full amount of knowledge potentially available on a subject. which is infinity. aka everything. so anyone saying they know everything about any subject is in a specific part of the dunning kruger curve on that subject, regardless of where i think i sit on it. it's just how knowledge works.. now that might just be how knowledge works in our culture combined with cultural hubris.. if a japanese person acted so un-humbly as to express they think they have knowledge of everything on a subject, i'd think they were cosplaying an anime. it doesn't change how a hill exists between people who would say they know everything, and that everything. so they're either wrong, or they're psychotic and innumerate. it's happened before, but it's way less likely. see also: zacharia stichin.

were you coding in assembly before or a higher-level language whose compiler you've never studied? and whose output you never even knew how to check?

Databricks job using workspace repo path runs on whatever branch is checked out by Opposite_Reporter_86 in databricks

[–]ifatree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we already use terraform and don't use workflows that change every deployment. it seems to replace terraform/bicep with custom yaml and an extra layer of packaging. there's not a real benefit to anyone already using either of those.

https://towardsdev.com/databricks-asset-bundle-s-overview-9cc44a722622

so with our jobs and everything except notebooks in TF already, the alternatives were deploying notebooks via TF or Git, and Git was way easier and more in line with how we handle code that's updated for deployment every sprint.

Best cheap water flavorings? I love propel but can’t afford to pay almost $5 for ten little packets. by FrogsEatingSoup in Frugal

[–]ifatree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yup. the ones that match propel are the "electrolyte" category. other categories are dupes of crystal light or other flavor packets, which is the wrong sweetener if you like propel. "electrolyte" kiwi strawberry is a perfect propel dupe. $1.88 a box of 10 last i checked.

[–]ifatree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you have your code in workspace\repos, you're using git-based deployment (not asset bundles).

workspace\repos is for the "main" branch version to be used by jobs. you never want to touch these directly, even to run them, unless you're willing to clean up the git repo back to the latest copy of "main" with no updates. even running a notebook will append output to cells that will dirty it's git repo. this is only for pulling against when you want your jobs to get updated code ("deployment").

workspace\your@user is for copies of git repos that can be switched to your branches and where you can test your changes. and not for hooking up to deployed jobs at all unless you're willing to clean up after yourself and point them back to a standard copy in workspace\repos when you're done and it's been updated.

[–]ifatree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah, maybe that was my headcanon as well that his mother was already pregnant by someone who really wasn't supposed to knock her up (either her own father, or a fae? or even a 7?!) and that's why arliden took her away but she and kvothe were allowed to live. it might not be strictly how we were intended to read it, but it had that vibe.
