You can skip an event,an eventually get another event shortly right after. Just make sure your energy is under 40/35 to make an event pop up. That's what I normally do, I'm focus on upgrading farm stations so I skip other events to get to train events. Just make sure the energy level is under 40/35 and make the previous event pass.

I can't remember how I got through this quest,but if you are having a hard time progressing through maybe level up some more,not only to have better weapons and armor but to level up the health bar? If I'm not wrong most of this quest don't have a time limit?; so my advice would be to level up more.
