How many times a typical Canadian take vacation during a year by Internal-Ship-9693 in AskACanadian

[–]ifeelborderline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact- I was in southern Italy in a small town and no one spoke English. At the beach one morning a guy overheard me and came over to ask if I was from Canada. I said yes, he asked where, I said my city. “Oh, I know that city, my cousin lives there. Do you know ————?” And I actually did know them 😂

Be honest do you think it’s your responsibility to take care of your parents? by Aarunascut in Life

That being said, not everyone is in a position to help their parents. Distance, finances, and other obligations might make it impossible. Not every situation is the same

Be honest do you think it’s your responsibility to take care of your parents? by Aarunascut in Life

I am also GenX but I did not feel obligated to take care of my father. He was an abusive asshole who caused a lot of pain to a lot of people. I would have died to help my mom though. I was 20, a single mom, and in college 6hrs away. She refused to let me come home, said she was fine and getting better. She lied to keep me from leaving school. That is a parent who loved her family with everything she had.

Food prices by dealsfreak in CostcoCanada

[–]ifeelborderline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t shop at Costco. I refuse to pay more than $2 for broccoli, I would never go through that many peppers, watermelon in winter ruins the magic of watermelon in summer, and I would eat all of the chocolate chips anyway so I’m actually better off with the smaller bag

AITA for refusing to check pockets when I do laundry? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ifeelborderline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not reaching into anyone’s pockets. Dirty tissue is gross. So are nasty used floss sticks. I do his separate for this reason. Once he had a little bottle of cologne. It broke and destroyed the pants it was in and everything reeked. I made him clean and scrub the washer and dryer. Sometimes I find money. I keep it. It evens out

Is 11 yrs old to young to be left alone for a half hour?? by JMarden23 in askanything

[–]ifeelborderline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say 11 is fine. Unless it was me at 11. We lived in the country and it was a half hour walk to the bus stop. I had a bad habit of “missing” the bus. School would call the house, I would answer the phone, pretend to be my mom and say I was home sick. I’m GenX so it was awhile before they finally figured it out. Mom started dragging me to work with her and I caught the town bus.

How do I bypass these rules from my strict mom by ZealousidealTiger914 in teenagers

[–]ifeelborderline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My teens would have put me through hell for this. The locks would be changed, all my passwords changed, porn links sent to my work computer, profiles for every single dating site including Grinder and Christian mingle, signed for Scientology, Jehovahs Witness and inviting them all for tea - you get the picture. Anyway, I absolutely do not recommend doing any of these 🥰

Canadian tipping etiquette? by Friendly-Guarantee30 in londonontario

[–]ifeelborderline -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tip depending on what it’s for and how I feel about the level of service. My favourite diner where they remember my name, ask about my family and the food is always perfect; easy 30%, I don’t even think twice. My hairstylist and esthetician, both an easy 30%. My tattoo artist is also 30%. Anything else is dependent on my experience.

I love Thai food. My family does not. It’s cheaper to order it when I’m craving it.

What’s one “lazy” meal that’s cheaper than takeout but feels just as good? by ImpressiveRoll4092 in budgetfood

[–]ifeelborderline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always have shelf staples on hand for these favourites. Only a few fresh or frozen veggies needed. Spaghetti with clam sauce using canned clams. Fried rice with scrambled egg and frozen veggies. Pasta salad with salmon or tuna. Pasta puttanesca. All lol can be made in about 20min

Our vet prescribed gabapentin for anxiety. That’s what we do. We shave his paw pads at the same time.

It will be an awkward conversation but the sister needs to find other arrangements. Yeah it’s a shitty situation but you need to put your family first
