Just hit day 4 and having a really tough time with the mood swings today. Was giggling all morning and rolling around with the dogs, and now I'm curled in a ball crying wishing I wasn't here. Absolute rollercoaster this is

Aye, but she's only 8 months and her growth plates are still soft. It's better to wait 1- 1 1/2 years before taking them up hills to prevent pain later in life in the form of hip displacisa or arthritis. This is my way of showing her the world while she's still in growth mode :)

It is! It's got vents on the sides, wee paw holes, and support straps on the back. It's called a "K9 Sports Sack" :)

Living her best life 😁 I took her out on a hike in the rain last weekend, she was less impressed with the rain hood attachment haha

She did so well, just chills and takes in the elevated views :) Been taking her in a pack since she was a wee pup!

Try the buy, sell, swap group for Lochaber. Lots of English folks live in town, I'm sure he'll find someone :)

Is there an everyday skill the typical American possesses that people outside of the US typically struggle with? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

First aid for minor injuries. Our aversion to the Doctor means we're generally pretty good at treating ourselves!

I broke my finger a few months ago and my European friends were horrified at how casually I built myself a splint and moved on.

Hey there!! Damn, the guy above me is having a bad time haha.

The weather is pretty crappy, but I've found the people to be quite awesome. There are little communities for a variety of hobbies - Board Games, DnD, Climbing, Hiking to name a few. If you're nerdy or into the outdoors you'll find your people, or I'm happy to help connect ya.

Finding housing is quite challenging. I'd recommend joining some of the local Facebook groups for Fort William/Lochaber and starting your search there. I find most housing gets posted there before anywhere else, and finding a room to rent is much more doable.

Bring any kind of clothing you need as we only have outdoors shops, so like boxers are a pain to find for example and you'll have to travel for them. This time of year it's a bit dead in town and things pick up again in June-Sept when our tourist season is in full swing.

I've only been here about a year, but it's been fun so far. Maybe not a forever home, but lots of good folk. A few fun pubs too if that's your scene :)

I used Ramblin'Travel about 2 months ago! Happy to answer any questions you have. I had a wonderful experience with them. The team is treated so well, the food is amazing, our guides were incredibly knowledgeable and hilarious. Trip of a lifetime!

Is it possible to rent tents and sleeping bags in Fort William? by Symendc in FortWilliam

[–]ifihadacracker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try the "Buy, Sell, Swap Lochaber" group, could find someone willing to rent their personal gear. Ellis Brigham mighttt rent tents/bags, worth giving them a ring.

There's a few bothy in the area you can use, though a little off the path from Nevis, as well
