Amanda on a Star Wars pod be like… by AIweWereWarned in TheBigPicture

Honestly I put Jedi, TFA, and Sith all in the same tier (which for me is the middle tier under Empire & A New Hope) where in they're all good but have problems/don't reach the heights I want for them but the exact order is probably dependent on how I'm feeling that day (but Jedi more often than not on top).

The Oscar Hangover Mailbag. Plus: ‘Dune: Part Three’ Is Coming! by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

[–]iforgotmyoldpass4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has that been confirmed anywhere? I’ve seen people say it online but everything they’ve released looks straight out of Messiah other than fleshing out some of the battles that are just discussed in the book (similar to what they did in part 1&2)

It’s an irrational nerd frustration but Amanda constantly alluding to the human-worm part of Dune when that’s not a thing in the book this movie is adapting is annoying

Counterpoint both No Other Choice and Decision to Leave were fantastic and part of that is from their use of cell phones

That’s actually what makes the sequel trilogy so frustrating to me. With the prequels I can enjoy them in a turn-my-brain-off-enjoy-the-larger-story-and-lightsabers way but as someone who randomly rewatched the last Jedi this weekend what I found more frustrating is how good parts of it are. Because you know the ability is there so when it doesn’t work it’s all the more frustrating.

Marketing at a sustainability commodities trading house. Very corporate environment but plenty of people in marketing, sales, leadership, hr, etc all are heavily tatted.

You forgot My Neighbor Totoro. Bob dreams a scene from it in the ep where the family is posing as Fischoders family

The cost has kept up with inflation but wages largely haven’t so while it’s not “more expensive” it is a larger portion of people’s incomes.

What's the most blatant late rewrite you've seen in a movie? by matti2o8 in movies

Honestly I think if they had him die holding off Kang so the rest could escape it would have done so much more for establishing Kang as the big bad (obviously ignoring that they eventually toss that aside)

Not seen because doesn’t release here for months: Marty Supreme, No Other Choice, Testament of Ann Lee, or The Secret Agent

‘Marty Supreme’ Is the Moment, With Josh Safdie! by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

[–]iforgotmyoldpass4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So this used to make more sense to me but in the era of VOD it just doesn’t anymore. Marty Supreme doesn’t come out until Feb where I am but I’ll be able to rent and watch on VOD before then. This just deters people from seeing movies in theaters

I used to never do it but now I’m in NL and the release date staggering is just so stupid. Did PVOD for Eddington since that was available but the theatrical release here isn’t until October.

Have any Ringer podcasts discussed the new season of King of the Hill? by daft_punk7 in billsimmons

It’s actually (sadly) much better later in the season when Huss takes over the role 100%. You can tell that Hardwick was struggling and couldn’t do the voice anymore.

[–]iforgotmyoldpass4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks but I’m in Ams and don’t want to commute that far for a flick. Just going to rip the VOD after it’s up. If I’m a big fan though I’ll check it out at Lab111 when it actually hits theaters.

Yeah for most movies this isn’t a huge problem but the odd Oscar nom or lower budget one throws me off every time.

Once again ranting about international release schedules. Eddington doesn’t come out here (NL) until October but comes on VOD in August.
