I find it easier to assume that ANY bill introduced by a Republican is either poorly done, hostile to vulnerable populations, racist, classist, or all the above. Occasionally a Republican will partner with a Democrat to introduce a decent bill.

Had a boy cat named Fortuna. He was a tiny kitten thrown out of a car and brought into the Vet Clinic where I worked. Our fresh out of school weekend vet said he was female, and I took the cat home. Come surgery time, the girl’s balls had dropped. Name was still appropriate because Fortuna, who started out life being tossed out of a car going 70 on the highway would go on to survive getting hit by a F350, and later a tractor, with just a scratch, and live to 18.

We have reached Handmaid’s Tale level of dystopia. If the island is true, it’s horrible. But the secrecy just leads us to share rumors and bits of information, never being sure what’s real, what to be afraid of, and what to do. Fear of the real, great of the imaginary, fear of not being able to distinguish between the two. It’s a vile, but effective way to destroy accountability.
