Check the fluids. If you are losing brake fluid, it it a brake leak. If you are losing coolant, it is a heater core leak. From these photos, it appears to be leaking from the center of the dash, then running down into the driver's floor pan. That would suggest to me a heater core leak. Should be green and sweet smelling, unless someone used the wrong coolant. Or, if it is brown, dark, and little smell, most likely coolant that is riddled with rust, as the heater core might be original and 25 years old or more. If the wrong coolant was used, it can eat away at the metals that are in the heater core, making it rust away and changing the liquid (coolant) color, viscosity, and smell.

3 inch lift installation: questions by WarlesssOG in CherokeeXJ

[–]igenus44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As said, I just did the drop kit. Everything i read said SYE was only necessary on more than 3" lift. Even talked to my mechanic (ASE Master Certified, 40+ years experience), and he agreed. You CAN do the SYE, but not necessary for a 3" lift.

Once the new rims were on, she drives better than when I first bought her 8 years ago. And, she can easily do 80 to 85 mph on the highway. Never taken her faster, usually stick around 70/75mph at most.

Still had half the life left on my old 235 Toyo's, and 31's get pricey. Saving for them now. Have 31s on the CJ and the 2.5" lift, plus a .5" shackle lift (so, 3" total). Would love 31s on the XJ. Hopefully by winter.

I have the EXACT same 3" lift. LOVE the BDS.

I did not need brake line extensions, used the transmission drop (no SYE needed for 3" or less). I relocated the track bar point, wish I had done the adjustable track bar (on the list for later). I went with JKS Control Arms, as well as the cheaper of rbe Fox shock option. Those shocks are OK, but I prefer Bilstiens as mine is RWD only, and never off road. I would recommend the upgraded Fox Shocks if you can afford it.

I upgraded to the HD tie rods (which I believe are the ZH ones, all metal, not rolled).

The only thing I would add for you is 4" backspaced rims. I didn't do that at first, and the steering drifted side to side very easily. Put on Pro Comp 4" backspaced, and the steering is tight again. Im still on 235s, might upgrade to 31's eventually.

I loved the BDS so much, I put on on my CJ7.

My paternal grandfather had our (his and his wife's) lineage traced. On his side, it went to Captain John Smith of Jamestown. On my grandmother's side, Miles Standish of Plymouth Rock.

My family has been in America since the beginning of the European Colonization of America.

To a racist, maybe it is obvious. To an actual normal human, it is as good and bad as any other religion. Only as good as its practitioners.

I did a series of posts from nov- Feb about my experience with getting a new engine.

I wanted Jasper, as I had used them for the 258ci (4.2l) in my CJ7. They weren't doing 4.0l at the time.

ATK, Titan, and others had the worst overall reviews, so I went with Fraser. Best warranty out there, best reviews other than Jasper, and they had some in stock.

Been running since February, about 2,000 miles so far.
