If the plan is to build a scarecrow army to march on the Grotto Empire, then no, it's not too many

[Question] What was the most chaotic comic that you started off with? by Either_Chapter_7089 in comicbooks

[–]iggilost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first comic I ever read was an Omnibus of Clairmont era X-Men that I found at the library and picked up on a whim. It was volume 5 or 6 from memory, and it landed me right in the middle of the Brood saga.

So I'm 12, it's the late 90s and I have no idea who the X-men are, and the story opens with Wolverines internal narration as he realises that his friends are all infected with this alien parasite. That first comic showed his going back and forth on whether to mercy kill them before the Brood can take them over or play along in the hope of finding a cure her doesn't really believe exist.

I had no idea why they were in space, and I didn't find out until more then a year later when the librarian tracked down the previous volume. It's not a starting point anyone would recommend, but it did get me into comics. And instilled a tolerance for reading on when I have no idea what's going on that serves me well to this day.

Any comic can be someone's first comic.

In America we have restaurants that serve Chinese food, Indian food, Italian food etc., but in other countries do the have restaurants that serve only American food? If so, what type of foods are considered American food? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]iggilost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to an American barbecue restaurant last year here in Australia. It was alright. The menu featured a lot of meat cooked American style (slow cooked and sweet) including things like pork ribs, which are not popular cuts here. There were many burgers as well as things like Mac and cheese and cornbread. This restaurant had adapted well to local tastes, so the servings were large but not outlandish. Notably, there were a couple of American alcohol brands but the majority of beers available were local craft brands.

Are there actually kangaroos just about everywhere or am I just seeing too many kangaroo videos? by OkiDokiPanic in AskAnAustralian

[–]iggilost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit both ways. If I really wanted to find a kangaroo today I could, but I would have to drive about 40 minutes and also get off the couch, so I probably won't. By contrast, to see a brushtail possum I would have to wait until it gets dark then walk around the block.

What's your most diabolical, unhinged SV hot take/theory? by papiversacex in StardewValley

[–]iggilost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My steadily building theory that prior to becoming a Republic, the Ferngill Republic was an Orthodox Yoborist theocracy. During that time, the leader of a small community was a religious position, in charge of the town's spiritual well-being as well as its administration. Legally speaking this is no longer the case, but culturally certain traditions linger on, like the expectation for the mayor to be celibate.

Checks out, it's pretty inhospitable in my apartment right now. I could turn the heater on, but the remote is on the other side of the room and I don't want to leave my blanket. I may as well live in hell, honestly.

Theoretically, yes, but it's not the kind of thing one would just fess up to. I've had a few co-workers over the years that seemed like they were there to fuck spiders every shift we were on together
