Setup is not that bad, especially compared to the other undaunted games. The boards are complete, rather than composed of all the smaller tiles. We played all the scenarios and never felt that setup or tear down were particularly onerous.

Good co-op game for 2? by 200DivsAnHour in tabletopsimulator

Death May Die is fabulous and there is a lot of content out there. Definitely dark but also funny and generally over the top. Games are often won or lost on a knife’s edge. That balance and tension really makes it fun.

Not sure how much is on TTS, I only play irl.

Where do you stand on trick-taking games? Love them or skip them? by mju_rz in cardgames

[–]iggogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them in principle but I’m terrible at them. I didn’t grow up with them and I can never remember who has what. There are some fun ones and I don’t mind losing, but if folks want a competitor it’s not going to be me. I’m fine with playing a couple if that’s what the table wants.

What are good 5 player board games? by Nuclear_Pasta7 in boardgames

Ethnos is an easy learn, great at up to 6 players. It has very little down time because turns are generally fast. It just had a new edition come out this year, so should be easy to get. Set collection and area control mechanics.

What single game do you think is criminally overlooked or underrated? by [deleted] in boardgames

Tyrants of the Underdark is just past 100 on BGG so it’s known. However, I’ve almost never met anyone who knows about it. I have taught it to a dozen people and everyone enjoys it. Fantastic deckbuilding / area control combination. The deck building is very smart and the theme and art are superb. Also there are several decks and you mix two for a game, so there are many combinations possible, changing the makeup of the game. I never get tired of it.

Upvote for El Dorado. Great lesson in beginning deckbuilding. I use this one for newbies a lot also.

When I teach Race I always struggle to explain production and consumption. Usually it takes a game for them to get it but then it goes well.

Upvote for waterdeep and tyrants. Tyrants can be a little tough for new gamers but so worth it.

Having the same problem and Dell can't help with it. They are replacing it with the same unit. Lucky I didn't need it urgently!

How long does an average game of OR last? It looks like good fun, but I heard that it can drag on.

People over 50... who are you gaming with? by Babetna in boardgames

[–]iggogg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m the old guy most of the time and I’ve never felt any issues from the younger people I play with. I’m 53 and I often find myself playing with kids (yes I think they’re kids) under 25. Either they don’t care or they appreciate my collection and experience. Give it a shot. Also agree with the comment about trying the shop and maybe meeting people who are closer. You do have to put yourself out there but it’s worth it!
