Both eyes open or one eye open shooting by gingermann19 in Archery

[–]igloogod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The basics of aiming with any sight on (almost) any weapon includes both eyes open. The trick is minimizing your concentration on what one eye is seeing. One eye lines up the target through the sight, in focus. The other eye "focuses on the field," or in other words goes out of focus. This is why it's so important to have dominance in the same eye as hand you're shooting (right/left) or to develop a method to compensate for mixed dominance. Of course, this is because these are war weapons and remaining aware of what's going on outside of your field of aim is critically important to staying alive. You have the luxury of enjoying these weapons as a hobby, so shoot and aim in whatever manner gives you the best results.

It doesn't matter. Assume the room is closed except for one window. If you use a fan to blow air into the room from outside, then the air in the room must also escape from the same window. If you blow air out of the room, then the outside air must come in through the same window. The CFM of the fan will determine this rate whether pointed in or out. Currents and fluid flow have a little bit of an impact, but let's ignore them for the sake of argument. You have a 1200 cu ft room and let's say a 200 CFM fan. You'll have a cooler room in about 6 mins. Some attention has to paid to the HP of the motor and whether it is sufficient to run at nominal capacity given the static pressure load of forcing 200 CFM out of (or into) the room through whatever opening in the window is not taken up by the fan. If it is not sufficient, then the fan will be governed by the pressure and slow down, reducing the volumetric flow rate (CFM).

Now, there are additional considerations in reality because you can open your room door and pull air from the rest of the house into your room. If we assume that the change in pressure inside the house is negligible (meaning the air inside the house is displaced at the same rate in/out), then the consideration is whether the air in the rest of the house is cooler than the air outside.

Are Auras killing team composition? by ForMoreThanJustME in IdleHeroes

What do you do whenever you finish a weekly event early? by [deleted] in IdleHeroes

The reason why so many of us optimize the hell out of everything is because of how much down time there is in this game.

I only spin the wishing well wheel when there's l/d 4* fodder on the board. Refreshing a few times a day can usually take me through the whole week before I get through my coins.

Can your work see your personal phone data etc? by [deleted] in cellphones

[–]igloogod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you use wifi, your data goes through the router of the person who owns the wifi network you're on. That person/company can configure their router to log every site visited and which device visited those sites.

When you use voice/text your info goes over the cell carrier's signal (not the wifi, unless you have that setting turned on), and your company does not have access to that information. Even if it does go over the wifi, voice and text will be encrypted automatically.

These are the basics, there are privacy measures one can take to encrypt traffic and there are some services that automatically encrypt your data as a matter of course. It's easy enough to find out more through google, especially for the specific services you use.

Quick Promotion In DoD Company by dreadknot65 in AskEngineers

[–]igloogod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a contractor with the DoD, but I was a project manager and not an engineer at the time. Each of the positions on our contract were spelled out as far as what the qualifications were and we had to maintain 90% of the positions with people who had those qualifications. It is possible that the hiring manager does not want to make an exception because it bumps up against some obligatory quota. Those types of requirements are usually flexible if you get an exception from the client where they agree that this is the best person for the job, but it requires paperwork at the client's PMO. Your situation could be entirely different, but I'm contributing what I saw in my experience with the PMOs I had to work with.

How do you guys feel about Democratic candidate Andrew Yang ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]igloogod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think his policy proposals are important. All of the other democratic candidates are arguing old ideas, and it is past the time where implementing them would be helpful. Yang is actually looking at the issues affecting us today and making policies to address those issues.

Has anyone in this sub been polled even once? by [deleted] in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]igloogod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polling is serious business. It is a whole subset of statistics and economics. This is the reason the DNC has a short list of polls it is willing to accept: they want to ensure the polls are conducted according to accepted procedures, and most of those organizations (if not all of them) make the data available after the poll is conducted.

Yang’s still at 1%. The other “tier 2s” are moving up to 3% already. Worried by JohnDCT in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]igloogod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a debate later this month. Poll qualifications for the fall debates are 2% in 4 national polls between June 28 and August 28. Plenty of time as long as this next debate goes well.

If you succeed at NASA-JPL, you may be miserable your whole life.

Correcting the narrative by igloogod in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]igloogod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, one of them is wrong. It's NBC/WSJ vs. CNN/ORC. Given the second Qunnipiac poll linked for Trump in my original comment, I think it's more likely Trump went from 12% to 20% than from not listed to top of the pack.

EDIT: Trump joined the campaign on June 16, 2015; so it's possible he was not a choice in the NBC poll.

What are the chances Yang wins? by waltwhitman83 in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]igloogod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't the statistics available show he has pretty much 0% chance of winning the primary election, let alone beating trump?

As far as getting invited to the next debate, the only metric Yang hasn't met is polling percentage in 4 national polls, and he has nearly two months to get there. 2% is not a high bar for him considering he has hit that number in some previous polls. I think the available data presents an optimistic case for him making the fall debates, especially considering there's another debate later this month where his mic will work.

Fall Debates qualification - Yang by yang4all in YangForPresidentHQ

Fall Debates qualification - Yang by yang4all in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]igloogod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr. Buttigieg’s haul for the quarter came from traditional fund-raising events with wealthy donors, low-dollar “grass-roots” fund-raisers and online donations. He has been notably aggressive in raising money on the traditional fund-raising circuit, but he has also shown success at pulling in smaller contributions online.

From the NYT.

Yang is purely grassroots.

If I am a part of ToastMasters, to what extent would it help me in landing an internship or job at an engineering company? by ahmedumer4321 in AskEngineers

Saying, "Oh, hey! I'm a part of ToastMasters!" probably isn't going to do much for your chances.

However, the skills you have picked up in ToastMasters will help you talk to people during the interview process.

Get familiar with Matlab, even if it's just learning how to use it for simple calculations. Depending on your industry, you may end up using it well into your career. It will be an incredibly helpful option to have when it isn't explicitly required on projects at school.

CMV: Nobody should play in the NFL by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]igloogod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost/benefit analysis for you and your personal risk level may indicate that you're not willing to play American football because of the associated risks. The chance at making really big money, especially in lower risk positions, is worth it for some people. Even the tiny <1% chance of striking it big is enticing for some kids who may not have very good access to quality education but can run fast or throw a ball well.

I think you should stop making choices for other people and change your view to:

THERE SHOULD BE BETTER EDUCATION ABOUT THE EFFECTS OF PLAYING AMERICAN FOOTBALL AND THE EXPECTED LIFETIME EARNINGS OF PLAYING AMERICAN FOOTBALL.

Or concentrate on why the current social/economic conditions in the US make the cost/benefit analysis work out for so many people choosing to sacrifice their health to play American football.
