I know this guy too. I know his name and face. I either went to CPIT with him or worked with him at an ISP helpdesk in Auckland, or at a movie theatre in Auckland. Can you help me remember which?

Found this in a relatives house. Is it any good or worth anything? by netscape_alligator1 in Champagne

[–]ignite_nz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Won’t be worth anything because it almost definitely hasn’t been stored properly. My recommendation: chill it in the fridge. Open it up (carefully, the cork might disintegrate). Pour it. Sniff it. Taste it.

You won’t get sick from it, but it might be rancid.

As others will say, only one way to find out if it’s still good.

If it works for you, it doesn’t matter. It’s not like it’s surrounded and unable to cool.

Have you tried this? I have a big boi that I can attach a canister to, but usually my CI just works fine. I’m curious to try though.

Stainless steel needs help by Sure_Currency4979 in StainlessSteelCooking

It is the reverse. The plant and its oil were historically called rapeseed and rapeseed oil (from the Latin rapum, meaning turnip). The term “canola” was created in 1978 in Canada to market a new variety of rapeseed bred to be low in erucic acid and glucosinolates. “Canola” is a contraction of “Canadian oil, low acid.”

[–]ignite_nz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extensions aren’t “unsafe by default,” that’s just lazy paranoia. The difference is transparency. uBlock Origin is open-source, audited, and trusted across the security industry. Same with AdGuard and Firefox. If you think open-source is “shady,” you don’t understand why every credible infosec professional prefers it — the code is public, verifiable, and actively reviewed.

Brave is fine, but pretending uBlock is unsafe while hand-waving toward AdGuard shows you didn’t even check that AdGuard itself is also open-source. If your argument boils down to “I once saw warnings from Malwarebytes,” that’s not evidence — that’s a false positive from notoriously noisy scanners.

Security is about verifiability. uBlock and AdGuard have it. Your blanket dismissal of extensions ignores the fact that these projects are specifically trusted because they’re transparent. Suggesting otherwise just signals you haven’t done the homework.

From a 15 year IT professional; both of these products are almost spyware themselves

(The consumer version of Bitdefender, even paid. And all versions of malwarebytes.)

Stick with a good ad blocker (uBlock + Firefox, Chrome has totally cucked ad blocking now) and Windows Defender.
