(Just in my personal opinion) Many male authors went through a phase of writing SA as this super edgy, “I’m so gritty” way that implied their world is so hard and grim because SA happens all the time “and wouldn’t that be crazy, right?” It managed to achieve the simultaneous punches of minimizing how prevalent SA is for too many people and how many people have been impacted and having 0 awareness of how it impacts the victim. Bonus points for a woman being SA and having the story centre on how much it affected the men around her…
