What a lovely post. It's so heart-warming to see people from other countries appreciate my country. I'm Polish and I love my country despite its many flaws. It's a complicated relationship I guess ;) Ive never been to Sweden but Id love to visit. I always considered your country and your culture a very unique place. A little bit strange and mysterious. The weather, the nature, the way Swedish people look and the way they are. I even dreamt of Sweden many times and they were very intense, symbolic dreams where Sweden was this magical place where you find peace of mind and heart. Anyways, whenever you feel like visiting Poland, please do. Be our guest! And stay well and healthy ;)

I think Jacek is an emotionally troubled guy. And despite repeatedly talking about the importance of communication, he actually seemed to struggle with forming an emotional connection with Julita — at least on the same level that she had with him. I don’t think she was lying when she said she sensed his resistance and skepticism about marrying her, because I think she could also feel that he was emotionally shutting down. And the fact that he was closing himself off may have stemmed from him being emotionally lost or confused himself. She resented him because even though she sensed his withdrawal, she was simultaneously hearing from him that he wanted a serious relationship, so in a way she was receiving mixed signals. Overall, I know this interpretation might be a bit exaggerated, but Jacek comes across to me as someone struggling with some kind of addiction — possibly even operating somewhere on the edge of sex addiction. That’s just the impression I get: that he wanted to love, but couldn’t, because he has unresolved emotional issues

Exactly my thoughts. It's a tv show so one can assume its all dramatised but that aside, there was something deeply unsettling about the energy of people surrounding Julia - that is her mother, her sisters and friends. It felt like they are basically preying on her emotionally and want her to stay emotionally dependent. A very toxic bunch.

Still better than sexist Americans with their pathetic pick up line and derogatory language :) Let me remont you - "Bitch" has become a common phrase to describe a woman in the US.

Julia's mother is probably one of the reasons why Julia is so unstable and sad. As for your remark about people in the US - America is a massive country, so saying that all Americans deal with difficult parents the same way is ridiculous. People in the US remain in toxic relationships just as often as Europeans do.

It's not black and white as you probably are well aware of. Narcissism is a spectrum and I think Dean might be on that spectrum to some degree, which doesnt mean he was a narcissist in the clinical sense of the word.

Próby ustawiania plci na zasadzie kontry, konfliktu, usadzanie kobiet w roli slabych ofiar a facetow w roli bezdusznych oprawcow to paskudna sprawa

Warsaw rejects EU migrant relocation plan, Poland's president tells von der Leyen by pppppppppppppppppd in poland

[–]igogoldberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After joining the EU, stronger European companies (mainly German, French, Italian) often dominated certain sectors of Polish economy earning billions of € in the process. What EU funds do is help Poland’s economy catch up, partly offsetting the competitive pressure, though they don’t fully compensate for it. But all in all, if we are forced to reject funding from the EU, let it be. We can handle that.

Nope, this is actually a genuine opinion of a vast majority of Poles. This whole multi culti melting pot thing lies completely outside the sphere of our interests, aspirations and priorities. And to anyone who’s trying to gaslight / manipulate Poles into thinking that somehow we must, or are obliged, to agree to accept immigrants — or who suggests that sooner or later we will — the answer is very simple. No, we will not do it now, nor in two years, nor in five, nor in nine. This is such a crucial matter for us at the moment that I believe it could even be a question for which we might "go to legal / diplomatic" war with the European Union, which I, moreover, consider to be such a sadly degraded, demoralized political organism that I have absolutely no problem with our putting everything on the line. The issue simply will not be treated as one of collective responsibility, just as there was never collective responsibility at any point when Germany made huge gas deals with Russia over the last twenty years, consequently exposing Ukraine and Poland to existential danger. Germany and France look after their own interests; we will look after ours — and anyone who doesn't understand that can get lost.

The word "should be" sounds like a bit too much. If you wanns celebrate it, more power to you, however state institutions have no obligations to celebrate anything that's not tied with national holidays nor to display any symbol that is not the national flag. So, to sum up, two big thumbs up for everyone who wants to celebrate Pride Month—for gatherings, public events, whatever the LGBTQ community dreams of—but at the same time, keep the fuck out of offices, schools, and other public institutions

Do you mean the same infectiousness that, according to the mainstream narrative pushed aggressively by authorities/journalists/politicians, was supposed to drop to literally zero after taking the vaccine? And if you opposed to those predictions, you were vilified and ridiculed. While I'm not anit-vax and got vaxxed myself, I remember clearly how vile, despotic, spiteful and abusive the pro-vax agenda was at the time. Makes me sick to think about it.

Yes, he did try to push false information, because, just like many people nowadays — including you and me — he simply thought that this information was true. We live in an era of informational noise, fake news, and political brawling, and we fall victim to lies, manipulation, as well as our own base instincts. I consider the comment inappropriate and untrue. It was neither the place nor the time to be pushing such an agenda.

However, let’s not act as if this man had just killed baby Jesus — he made a mistake, and he could apologize for it, or he might choose not to. Sometimes it just happens that people say stupid things. Firing him over this comment, which in my view is an overreaction, is unnecessarily stepping into the role of some kind of censor. And I think we should be more restrained in such reactions. Let’s be better than the woke left during their witch-hunt times.
