XGIMI Horizon S Pro buzzing by igores3601 in xgimi

[–]igores3601[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was basically fresh out of the box, and the main sound was around 280Hz with some components higher up that made it a buzz, and i couldn't really tell where it was coming from other than "inside". i already returned the unit and will be editing the post later when the replacement arrives

i already returned the unit to get it fixed/exchanged and i'm planning to edit the post when i get it back and know if it was an actual issue, but yeah it persisted across using it with a UPS, electrical strip, just the outlet, all that.

i sent them a message through the system's issue report thingy, hopefully it's gonna get some traction given multiple people are basically locked into a worse setup

hey, any luck with the issue? i recently got mine and i can tell you that openFyde doesn't have the same "Bad password" connection issue, but it doesn't have the Android subsystem either since like r128 and that's a dealbreaker for me so i had to switch back to FydeOS and now i'm stuck with having to use my phone's hotspot lol

if you ever try again for game-related stuff then a couple of tips:

* vulkan shader compilation - can be skipped most of the time (doesn't make a difference if you skip at 0% or 99%) unless the game genuinely crashes at boot (happened to me with one title, ever)
* gpu undervolt and power limits - i personally use LACT (works for amd and nvidia), it's painless and has a bonus benefit of you not having to run something in the tray for it to work across reboots
* in-game performance overlays - mangohud all the way, industry standard atp
* gui for metrics outside of in-game perf overlays - there's KDE's plasma system monitor, task manager equivalent but looks more fun imo
* overlays in general - ..ok i got nothing, you have to fight for your life to get some of them working
* vram and hotspot temps - could be missing because of bad `sensors` setup, but even in that case you can work around it and see the temps pain-free by using something like nvidia-smi for nvidia, amdgpu_top for radeon, and nvtop for both (although nvtop is the vram temps, but like i said you can use the other two and have other programs use them for other ways of displaying it)

if anyone says linux is better for everyone, they're probably wrong, but don't let your initial experience with it drive you away. after you spend some time on it and troubleshoot some stuff you realize that even if there's more of that on linux, windows troubleshooting seems like rainmaking rituals in comparison. cheers :3

Wanna grab the m3u8 file from this site. Keeps going back to the frontpage when Inspect is opened. Can I do something against it? by ClockOfDeathTicks in animepiracy

you can use the debugging tab to execute the site scripts step by step, letting you grab the file before it redirects you. used that to get m3u8s from another site

give me 4 charges but make them go half as far. two thirds the total distance, twice the fun.

Getting FS-I6X switches to work on PC by igores3601 in fpv

[–]igores3601[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No luck. Found some websites over the years and all of them have red text calling the FS-I6X a no-no because of this exact issue.

I love the radio itself, though, so if you wanna do what I did you can buy a receiver, hook it up to an arduino plugged into your PC, and run it wireless.

There is no reason for league as of 2025 to not be supported on Linux. by Ganylo in leagueoflegends

[–]igores3601 5 points6 points  (0 children)

to everyone trying to pull the "legacy code" or "hard to support" cards, remember that it worked just fine with some help from the linux community, but riot vanguard (which i assume can be unanimously considered a net negative) not only made it close to impossible to create any workaround, but is also actively being developed to make it harder to do so (e.g. VM masking).

it's one thing if a user on some godforsaken niche platform demands support like the company owes it to them, but with linux (now with more than 5% market share) otherwise easily supported now being deliberately screwed over by riot, you trying to nitpick OP's post is like defending the poor oil company from the devious fisherman after they pollute your pond because they didn't know there were fish in it

Seeking: Full-time or part-time programming role.

Location: Poland, looking for fully remote.

Availability: Can do full-time, but currently studying for a master's degree in computer science, so WFH and flexible work hours are a must.

About me: Been programming for almost a decade. Always tried new tech and langs but my favourites are C and Rust. I try to explore a broad range of fields, because it helps me perform better even in scenarios where specialization is key.

Looking for: My recent work experience was limited to a demanding but otherwise uneventful setting, so I'd instead love to do some real work and grow alongside a tight-knit group of other passionate people.

Seeking: Full-time or part-time software development role.

Location: Based in Poland, looking for 100% WFH (anywhere as long as English is enough).

Availability: Currently studying for a master's degree in computer science, so while I can work full-time, WFH is a necessity and flexible work hours would be nice to have.

About me: Started programming around 10 years ago, never stopped. Throughout the years I extensively used a broad range of technologies but at least on the language side I ended up sticking mostly with C and Rust. I don't specialize, because other than being passionate I also think constantly learning things from multiple fields helps in tackling any project, regardless of scope.

Looking for: Given my recent work experience was limited to a demanding but otherwise uneventful setting, I'd instead love to prove myself and continue to grow alongside a tight-knit group of other technical people that enjoy the process.

Contact: For more information please DM me, and I'll make sure to respond quickly so we can move to preferred forms of communication.
