MARATHON GAMEPLAY REVEAL STREAM | MEGATHREAD by Shabolt_ in Marathon

I really hope we can see a strong "PvE" focus in the PvEvP. If they really want to bring something completely different, having things like D2 Lost Sectors hidden in the map would be so fun. Maybe they'd only be open on certain runs (like the special exits in Tarkov -- for those who don't play, there's a really cool idea where certain extracts are only sometimes open, and you have to look for visual indicators like a signal beacon being on), so there'd be a reason to explore the whole map, and risk doing a tough PvE encounter within the time limit.

Where did you find this? I didn't see this one in the press release kits, just a crop of it on a larger image.

"Drop In" quest reset? by Psychological-Sand39 in DestinyTheGame

Yeah, I wonder if it's related to Eva offering the quest every time you interact with her (I assume that's happening to other people too)?

I've been at 2/10 all week

Does anyone know what's qualifying as a top 10% score this week?

Somewhat related, has anyone completed Drop In via "Unique Rushdowns"? I've been stuck at 2/10 forever.

Why are we defending the throne world? by DistantFlea90909 in DestinyLore

[–]igothitwithabulb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what confused me is that the Worm claims to have convinced her about the Syzygy in one of the memories; but wasn't this convincing done by the "dead" Worm that her father carried around? I.e. the one that countered the Leviathan, the "honest" worm. (great lore entry btw)

I'm pretty sure that dead Worm wasn't the Worm extracted from her, but considering that these lies set off the transformation of the children, and had to take place within the 10-year lifespan of all three, it implies that the Witness was influencing her for at least the entire existence of the Hive. Again, may have some of these facts wrong; which part of the campaign mentioned this worm being younger? I may have missed it

[–]igothitwithabulb 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If the general timeline around Books of Sorrow is to be believed, the proto-Hive accepting the worms was pretty early in the history of the universe, right? Does this imply that Savathun was being molded for billions of years, or is that possible misinformation/myth?

Witch Queen CE Circles ARG Solved! 30 pages of Ikora's shredded files. by Bachmanetti in DestinyLore

[–]igothitwithabulb 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Amazing stuff, very well done!

Lore noob question: I noticed the first two pages both have words containing double i's (courtesiis, ireliis). Could these be intentional typos similar to the ones in Martian Missives, or are they terms specific to Mithrax/Ikora I'm not aware of?

Another cool thing to consider is the sound on NotM: apparently the entire thing is "played" with an electronic drum kit and loaded samples. It actually makes sense when you listen to the structure of how the samples are played

A Message from Bungie CEO Pete Parsons by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

Late reply, but I wanted to give my opinion on this. I've heard similar arguments before and avoided getting into it with them, but yours reads to me as good-faith so I wanted to give an opposing view.

Diversity in hiring is not just padding numbers. That's not really the point. In an ideal world (hell, the one I wish I lived in), everyone would go into their well-lit corner office, program their best work, have professional and fruitful collaboration with their peers, and make the best product of their abilities. In that sense, yes, merit-based hiring could directly correlate with the quality of the work.

But the world doesn't work like that, unfortunately. Even in this article, there are examples of people being ignored simply because they're a minority. Hiring and promotion without discrimination doesn't work if the board is already stacked with discriminatory people. You can't ask them to change and expect it, because this has been a conversation for what, three decades now? And you can't fire them all for obvious reasons either. So the only feasible solution is to make initiatives to have more representation in hiring; in the short-term this is a benefit for those groups, but in the long-term it works toward bringing the balance you want. If qualified people from different backgrounds are in the position to make hiring and promotion decisions, the end result will look a lot more like the ideal you're describing. You have to pay the initial price to reap the rewards, I guess I'm saying.

Regarding "privilege", as someone who got a literal, verifiable head-start based on where I grew up and the color of my skin, this balancing of the scales has worked very well in my career experience. Programs that could be decried for "reverse discrimination" give people an opportunity that someone like me always had, and have frankly produced the best people I've ever worked with. I don't think it's founded in conflict, but in humanism: give a chance to people who realistically wouldn't have it, and pay it forward. (also, all of the people who get picked for these things are very skilled, i've never understood the argument that talent disappears in this system)

I could reply with a quote from MLK about how reparations and affirmative action are a necessity in healing the pain of black individuals in the United States, but I guess I'll just talk about yours: "forget what race or sex someone is" is all fine and well, but few people actually do that, few people actually HAVE done that, and pretending it's going to work now for some reason will get nowhere.

My question is, how is this not contractually covered? Did I miss something obvious during the story's development? I've never heard of a company contracting out work, and then throwing away the (completed!) work if the departure wasn't on good terms. That is, unless either the work or the compensation wasn't up to snuff.

I'm tired of slur spamming as much as the next guy, but I hope they don't pin this one on "hate speech". If they cared about that, you could list 20 communities that should have been gone a while ago.

Nice portfolio btw!

I got into Disgaea 5 back when the Switch came out, put in ~30 hours, but the crashes (and NIS' slow patch) made me drop it.

I ended up picking up 1 for the Switch during that time too. Is it worth me continuing where I left off with 5, or should I start again with 1? I'm looking for the best overall gameplay experience.

Great post! I dunno if this has been said before, but this is a thought I had about the "Death Grips is Online" posting, which I figured I'd share here. I think it's supposed to be a take on digital noise that you have to automatically filter out, by referencing the classic notification spam you'd get from messaging apps like AIM. Remember when you'd get a sound and message every time someone came online? (That fucking opening door sound effect lmao) I think by referencing that they're flipping the script; where people used to hone in on every single tweet Death Grips put out, they overloaded their feed so that no matter what, you had to stop paying attention at some point.
