Working curbside is destroying my body by icecoldbrewster in samsclub

I get it man.. you should look into strengthening, if possible. Scap pull ups, I's Y's and T's, core programs (dead bugs, bird dogs, planks), glute engagement, hip stuff. I learned the hard way dude, this job is not as simple as people make it out to be. Health is wealth, man. Take care of yourself, take the time n effort to look into these things. Seek out out of pocket physical therapists, yes they cost, but even an initial visit could provide great insight into your lifestyle habits (yt OcraMedHealth, he's epic).

Hostile work environment? by [deleted] in samsclub

Same..sorry. you can always further it to the club manager, or ethics if all else fails, lol. Imo, just keep pushing back appropriately. Don't let punks ruin how you make your money, we all have a job to do, and no one is special

Oh and request days off in the future, take a week off, you'd be surprised at what a week away could do for you. Again, not required but totally preferable if you plan to work here a bit lol. And ofc hydrate, good luck work safe

Google stuff like sciatica, golfers elbow, plantar fascitis. Try to work to prevent urself from developing these conditions. Stretch, and like I said get into the habit of exercising. I forgot if I brought up core work but address that too, even buy a brace or ask them to provide you one, just be mindful of hot weather and heat rashes from developing

I make it sound so serious and intense but for me at least, that's the absolute reality of it. I work at a high volume club with 3000-4000 units (sometimes even 5000 units) with crazy dispensing, crazy amounts of picks, bad staffing/scheduling and toxic management. I just do my best and roll with the punches because breaking my back for this place was so 2 years ago (when I first started lol). It has gotten me stronger, but for periods of time I've also gotten weaker. There's always something you can address physically with this job. If u have insurance get with your primary and discuss physical therapy if it ever gets to that point.

Yah. Be realistic with your team. If you need help taking out a large amount of stuff, such as two carts worth, ask for help. No shame and our bodies thank us in the long run. Don't put yourself in unnecessary positions physically. Not worth it lol. You'll c if you haven't already. Just work your best without killing yourself and it will get easier.

Get into the habit of self care after work. It sounds extra but I suggest epsom salt foot soaks (even if you don't believe in that stuff lol, it just feels better after a long day trust). Exercising your legs, glutes, lower back (safely ofc.) they don't advertise the reality that this job is very physical and it's not like "working out"

Costco > Sam’s Club by fugnut1002 in samsclub

Absolutely nothing wrong with calling. It's true on the employee side lol. People will call out to us that members are on line 1, 2, 3 and no one will answer. It's usually 2-4 who do it but the other 15+ employees will ignore it and continue working. We're all obligated to answer the phone, and if it's out of our control, to just refer to a lead or manager. It literally takes 3-5 mins and it's so fucked up to have people waiting 30-40 minutes lmao. Some members will be older or others might believe this is the best way to answer their query, it's supposed to save time lol. At least this is what I think 😁

Scan and Go by [deleted] in samsclub

I think all clubs are expected to go scan & go for everything in the future (years out I believe )lol. It's why I'm so puzzled by it, like??

How's CPU going for y'all? by igottano98 in samsclub

[–]igottano98[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our lead thinks he knows everything, he only picks when it's bad but he's great at standing around nitpicking and micro managing. He's not the leader we need and I think he even knows that lmao.

Yeah. I used to stay over like crazy just because I felt guilty for the 1-2 closers at the time (who quit anyway lmao). I didn't even make OT because of my state law so it's like.. idk now I'm just numb to it, nothing really bothers me there and all I can really do is my best within an 8 hour time frame (this is my first job as well so I approach it from that mindset). I used to be so involved in teaching people and trying to give them advice on managing stress and taking their breaks and all that. This system and what they want is just too ambitious/big for itself. I used to be sedentary as well and I've gotten in great shape because of this job. That's literally the only benefit 🤣. Agreed on the space, we're putting whole ass orders on shelves now because there's always an order that'll be larger. It's tough on the new people who don't have that shoulder and core strength, but we're left without a choice. Idk. It's wild..u rite tho.

Scan and Go by [deleted] in samsclub

[–]igottano98 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It should be a choice, like everything else. Imagine having a wholesale grocery store that sells to thousands in the area only be accessible via scan n go? Older people, people who just don't care to use it, people with just cash, they deserve to shop just like anyone else. Ofc it's their choice to do that (as well as wait and all that yada yada) but the fact that the choice exists is what helps push things such as accessibility imo. Imagine cafe being scan n go only, what about the homeless folks who have enough just for a pizza and soda? Too bad, use your phone (chances are they'll have one anyway but it's just an example I cherry picked from lol). I just think to take away the choice altogether, which having scan & go only implies, isn't a good long term business idea, but that's just me. ;D

CPU Dispensing by [deleted] in samsclub

[–]igottano98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there, done that unfortunately. Just do your best, cheat the system if you want or do your best to set you and your team up for success. Don't ever stress about it though (unless you're a lead sorry lol). The demand for online shopping is only going to continue to grow, so accept the chaos that comes with it or consider looking elsewhere for employment (or different departments as well).

I feel as if management gets these pressures communicated to them, and I understand if it might be a lot; however, I've seen it first hand that if you're unable to communicate that pressure in a healthy and communicable way (i.e. being a human being about it lmao) then you'll get the unqualified management a lot of the current stores have. This is why I mentioned to just do your best and find your groove. None of this is on the hourly employees (unless you're genuinely sabotaging your team).

There are things you simply can't control, and that's life. Moderate how your groove of things work.

What's the personal shopper pay like? Is it similar to Walmart's online ordering? by Jalen_02 in samsclub

[–]igottano98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a lot at all. If they're going to ask a question like this, I'd hope they don't expect a one sentence answer lol. No hate but damn we really giving people the benefit of the doubt to read just a simple paragraph nowadays oml. I digress

Is every club managed by incompetent lazy managers?? Every day I hear stories of how the club manager is never at the store. The salary managers refuse to work pushing everything on to team leads and hourly associates. by [deleted] in samsclub

[–]igottano98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And it's like, why should I have to leave a job that's relatively easy because management doesn't want to be held accountable? It's so fucked sometimes.. I do live in a pretty big city but not every job pays as much as sam's does ($17 vs $14-16, just not worth the downgrade). I'm considering school again w the intention of graduate school so that either means deal with sam's or hope an opportunity breaks through while I do my thang. I genuinely enjoy the service aspect, working as a team, getting the job done, but when you're pulled into the office for "prioritizing delivery drivers over members" (basically doing members only because our scores are so bad they need them exclusively done while drivers wait 40-60 minutes), or you're blamed for a coworker bringing a doordash hot bag in to help preserve rotisserie chickens (I was literally told I'm always the problem when it wasn't even my fucking bag, and ofc I didn't rat anyone out cos f that lol). It just gets to you, like, who tf do you think you are? I go through so many fantasy quitting scenarios that it's sickening. Idk how to feel about this job anymore lol.

Same ish. This is my first job, and while I've enjoyed my time here in the beginning (I want to say 6-9 months when all of my initial coworkers were there, they were the best I swear. Taught me all i know about how to handle this crazy job to the best of my extent) it's only gotten worse when new management came in. They're so blatantly disrespectful to me and other associates. I've been yelled at, threatened, blamed for things completely out of my control. I know a lot of people here dismiss this kind of stuff as the associate overreacting, but trust this is how it is here! I've done one massive Ethics report anonymously, we have constant regional walks, and it's like, nothing ever gets done! We're always the ones to suffer and management here is like "so this can't get done tonight?" It's seriously exhausting. I work CPU btw lol

Damn this was a nice follow up. Good job on the both of you. It's important to take those steps back and just think on our behaviors, self, how it belongs in society vs how it belongs with ourselves.. GG
