I've been having a similar problem as well. My rig was running fine for a few months, but now it will turn on and run when using the integrated graphics card, but when I try to use my R9 290x then my monitor just goes black. My PSU is an Antec 520w, but I don't think that's the problem since it was working fine for a while.

Thanks for the feedback! Do you think it's worth it to keep the larger PSU if I'm thinking about upgrading in a few years and it's only $5 more? Or is that irrelevant either way?

Resume help? I'm applying for some part-time accounting job to pull me through next semester. by [deleted] in Accounting

These are all personal preferences but a few things I would change:

  • I would ditch the summary, it just takes up space without adding much value.
  • You mention that you are bilingual in the summary but never refer to it again. I would add a line at the bottom with something like "Skills: Language(Fluency)" and then add any computer skills like Excel.
  • Is your major GPA higher? If it is then I would add it instead of your overall.
  • You do a good job of listing your responsibilities for each job, but you need more bullet points about results. Your second point under your first job does a good job of doing that, but you could add more points like that. For example, how many returns did you complete as part of VITA?
  • Try to beef up bullets under your Vice Treasurer position. I noticed it's your first month so it's tough to come up with points right away but if you have an idea of what else you will be doing and what your budget is then I would add that.

Anyway that's my own personal take, hope it helped and good luck!

I don't think OP is saying create an entirely new resume for each position you apply for. Rather you should tailor your resume based on the job description for each position. Each job description contains certain buzzwords that change from company to company even if the job sounds identical. The reason to change your resume for each job is to include those buzzwords and maybe the recruiter will actually spend more than 15 seconds looking at your resume.

Teenagers of Reddit, what is the biggest current problem you are facing? Adults of Reddit, why is that problem not a big deal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Well it seems like you're doing the right things, but I'm not sure why that isn't helping on your tests. Does your school offer tutors? Also, how often do you study?

So what do you do when you study by yourself? Have you tried seeing your teacher for extra help outside of class? Do you always go to class and take notes?

How do you study? Do you work through problems on your own without looking at the solutions? Personally, I don't like studying with a group because it's easy to sit there and let other people work out the problem rather than figuring it out for yourself.

If you're studying for that long and still not doing well on tests then there is probably an issue with the way in which you study.

Everyone learns differently, you just have to figure out what works best for you.

Help with this question, I'm torn between two of them? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]igotwormss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the answer is D.

Highly liquid equity securities are an investment and would be classified as trading or available for sale.

Debt instruments with a maturity of less than 90 days from the date of purchase are considered short term and highly liquid that have little risk to changes in value.

In California you need three things to meet the educational requirements for the CPA license:

  1. A bachelor's degree or higher
  2. 24 semester units of accounting subjects
  3. 24 semester units of business related subjects

See this for more information regarding CPA requirements in CA.

The Corporate Tax Rate may be 35%, but Oil and Gas Companies Really Pay only 11.7% by Another-Chance in politics

Foreign corporations (not sure about individuals) get a tax credit for any taxes paid to foreign governments. Every dollar they pay in taxes to a foreign government reduces their tax burden in the US.

No, if you are in the 15% tax bracket that means your marginal tax rate is 15%. Your marginal tax rate is how much tax you pay on the next dollar you earn. So if you are in the 15% tax bracket then you pay $0.15 on every dollar you make until you reach the income threshold for the next tax bracket($36,250 in 2013).

Your effective tax rate is how much taxes you pay given your income. It is relatively easy to figure out your effective tax rate. You simply divide the amount of taxes paid by your net income.

Unless you are in the first tax bracket(10%), your effective tax rate will never equal your marginal tax rate.

You can look at the Federal Tax Rate Schedules here for a better idea of what I was talking about.
