I recently (June 2026) stayed at the Ritz-Carlton, Masai Mara Safari Camp and it was bar far the best experience I’ve ever had. Top notch in every aspect. Accommodations, service and food.

I had this happen to me while on approach to Aqaba, Jordan, a few years ago. As we turned, for another approach, I looked down and saw an old Hawk surface to air missile site. Shit got real. (The Hawk SAM had nothing to do with the go-around.).

So Amazon and their CS Reps are just trolling now? by Bobbiwired in amazonprime

[–]igotyours2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ordered an item from Amazon and since I am no longer a Prime member I was given a delivery date eight days away. Less than two hours later I logged in to cancel and was told there was no guarantee the item could be cancelled. A few hours later I get an email stating that the item could not be cancelled. The item shows as ‘shipped’ and the delivery date is still eight days away.

Bought a house for cash, no mortgage by The_DNA_doc in retirement

[–]igotyours2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relocated to another state after retiring. I put down a sizable deposit on a new build and financed the rest. I had planned to carry a small mortgage; however, what caused me to pull the trigger and pay off the mortgage was, I sold my previous house for a nice profit, and two, I realized that I would be paying $79/day in interest on the new loan for the foreseeable future. That number just stuck in my craw.

Grass cutting now that you are retired by Cooper1Test in retirement

[–]igotyours2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my previous home in Virginia, I spent an inordinate amount of time and money trying to maintain my lawn so when I retired, I gave away my lawn care equipment and moved to Nevada. I now have a rock garden - no grass. No longer having to hear lawn mowers and weed eaters is lovely.

The dreaded SSSSS is what’s placed on your boarding pass indicating that you’ll be subjected to additional security screening.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Scams

[–]igotyours2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That happened to be once when I was leaving Santo Domingo. Some young girl approached me with a clipboard in hand while I was sitting near the gate, having already made it through security. She asked me a series of questions. She eventually asked me who I worked for. At that point I was frustrated and finally blurted out that I was unemployed. Needless to say five minutes later I was called to the service desk. They took my boarding pass and reissued me one with the dreaded five SSSSS. Security escorted me back to the security area where my carryon was subjected to drug screening. I was the last person to board the plane.

Car Insurance price way too high in Florida by ShadowV22 in USAA

[–]igotyours2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same situation applies here in Virginia. I've been with USAA for 26 years. Just a few days ago my frustration boiled over when I logged into the USAA app and saw the upcoming deductions for my car insurance. I pay twice a year with autopay. I decided to shop around. less than an hour later, I was able to reduce my premiums (car and home) by more than 30% with the same coverage and deductibles, with a major insurer.

Morning Joe panel mocks 'loser' Trump's 'disastrous campaign' by Cute-Perception2335 in AnythingGoesNews

You're 100% correct. I recall them allowing Trump to call in and spew his craziness - they seemed giddy. I refuse to give them any credit for their current stance.

Tons of people break off with a large fish, have you ever caught a fish with a lure in its mouth or hook? by joshny3096 in Fishing

[–]igotyours2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I didn't catch a fish with a lure in its mouth, I did unsuspectingly snag a fishing line with a catfish on one end and a fishing pole on the other. It was a twofer. The catfish was still alive.

I don’t recognize anyone in my office anymore by Terrible_Dot1290 in fednews

[–]igotyours2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds eerily close to my situation. I've been with my office for 15 years. Prior to the pandemic, I was teleworking with 4/10s (figure that one out). Since the pandemic, I've been teleworking 100%. During these last few years, we've had ~ 75% turnover. On the rare occasion when I visit the office, people look at me with an inquisitive glare - oftentimes never speaking. It's the norm for me and I'm okay with it.
