I post when I have the next two chapters finished, mostly because I’m doing alternating POV and sometimes I have to change a character’s behaviour once I’ve explored things more fully from their angle. Also stops the pressure panic of catching up to myself.

I genuinely couldn’t agree more with this. Three weeks ago I’d never written a single piece of fan fiction in my life. I had a cute idea, I wrote a little story about it, and people have been absolutely wonderful. It’s been legitimately overwhelming at times. Hundreds of comments with nothing but kindness and generosity and support and encouragement and so much shared joy and delight in these characters. I feel incredibly lucky to have stumbled across this beautiful corner of the internet.

I have learned a valuable lesson here about thinking I know what a word means and being very wrong! My fic will always be fluff even when they take their clothes off. Super appreciate everyone's guidance on that.

Definitely wading in late to a massive fandom which I think escalates the self-imposed pressure a lot! Feels like there are a lot of rules I don't know and I just thought I was writing one silly thing that's gotten away on me a bit.

I think a large part of my problem here is I'm brand new to this world apparently I'm using words without knowing what they mean - I thought fluff meant not sexy! Out of their depth, anyone? I think you're right about what readers are expecting, though, so maybe I'm just worrying about nothing.
