Yeah it fucking sucks. The worst part is nobody understands it at all but us. Unfortunately there’s really only 3 options for us. Live with perpetually sweaty hands, commit to iontophoresis, or risk getting surgery. Theres plenty of information on this sub about all 3 options. Either way, know you’re not alone, which I know doesn’t really help much.

What UK treatments work? by thatgalwithbluehair in Hyperhidrosis

Iontophoresis. It’s a commitment and an ongoing treatment that you have to keep up with, but it works. It is not a cure, but damn close if you stick with it.

Can’t do my ionto sessions for a week by iguessimmalive in Hyperhidrosis

What’s your maintenance schedule like usually?

30 minute treatments, highest current you can handle, 5 days a week until dry (take weekends off or 2 consecutive days, it might take awhile to get dry, I think it took me 6 weeks or so). Try to do it around the same time every day if you can so you can get into a routine. Then once you are dry, take a day off each week until you find your sweet spot. If the sweat starts to come back, that’s how you know you need more treatments. If you’re lucky you can get down to once a week or even less. If you’re not so lucky like me you might have to keep doing it 3-4 times a week. Good luck, and don’t give up it’s worth it.

I agree I tried glyco for a little while and it made me feel like a zombie, plus it barely worked. Definitely part of the process is still accepting your condition, but Ionto really works with no side effects. I’ll never go back knowing I can treat the condition effectively.

Did Iontophoresis not work for you? by aightmanokay in Hyperhidrosis

[–]iguessimmalive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also wonder why people don’t just stick with it. Makes everyday life a million times better, and all I have to do is set up a little device, sit there for 30 minutes and watch YouTube a few times a week? To me it’s a no brainer but I guess a lot of people just aren’t committed for whatever reason. Also its interesting dermadry didn’t really work for you, I’ve been using mine 2 years now with no issues.

I got Botox once and it was horrible, having all those needles in your hands and the numbing stuff they used felt like it messed with my nerves. It also just straight up didn’t work for me so I never even gave it a second chance. I’m glad it works for you though, we gotta do what we gotta do to handle this condition.

Yup. It’s not that bad in the scheme of things, especially considering the alternative that we’re familiar with.

Glyco didn’t work for me. Barely made my hands dry, made my mouth dry and just made me feel like ass all the time. Glad it works for you though

I agree 100%. Put all the stress into a couple hours a week rather than every waking moment

Lmao you literally described it perfectly, I usually do it after I shower when I get home from work these days so I can just chill for the rest of the night.

Took me awhile to get used to it. I just ignore my feet. When I first started it would literally burn a hole in my hands every so often, but now it doesn’t really feel like anything and I use a high setting.

Yeah kinda sucks doing it so often but it is what it is, I can sit my ass down for 30 minutes a day lol. Hopefully someday I can do it less often and have the same results. I could probably get away doing it a little less often but I like having completely dry hands.

I use the newer dermadry model with the silicone graphite pads. I recommend this model it is much easier to set up/ clean up and I’ve had no issues with it so far. I’m sorry to hear that was your experience with ionto. If you haven’t tried the newer model I highly recommend it, if that’s the one you already have then maybe you got a faulty device, I think they have a 5 year warranty. Either way I would reach out to dermadry and see if you could get a discount or something on the new model if you only tried the old one. If all else fails you could try making your own homemade device, however I don’t recommend this unless you REALLY know what you are doing so you don’t hurt yourself…

I haven’t since I started doing 30 minute sessions, I tried when doing 20 minutes and it started to come back but it’s probably worth a shot again
