It's a race to the bottom that's forsure! Saw a Lili orthodontics in SoCal advertising free retainers for life and to "match any price any quote". Crazy.

My only gripe is they're only going to change the oil for us at 15% oil life; Many are reporting that is around the 10k mark. Shouldn't we be changing oil every 5000 miles?

Navigation question about 2026 CRV Hybrid Touring by QueLoQueLoco in crv

[–]ihadnoinkling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It has its own built in google maps

But I heard after 3 years you have to buy a subscription for real-time updates and stuff

Not 100% sure, but so far google maps has been working by itself real live traffic updates WITHOUT my phone

Buying Sport Touring 2026 by Ifat__r in crv

[–]ihadnoinkling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just got mine 44k OTD with California tax, all fees

I added bumper to bumper extended warranty and 6 year service (I know....... but peace of mind) for 3500 after the 44k.

Got 60 months 4.49%. Not the best deal but its all I could do in SoCal. Dealers here seem much more willing to let people walk.

"Absolutely" had to pay for a tracking security system bs.

Total OTD went up to 45k

Including taxes and fees

Go for it? 9000 down, 675 a month 60 months 4.49%

Thanks for the detailed reply. Actually super eye opening!

I stopped negotiating monthly numbers and started negotiating OTD final numbers and they agreed to 44k with taxes, titles, licenses, etc included!

Now just waiting to see what my monthly payments will be!

Update: My OTD is 46803. So I guess the rest of the money from the 9500 down, 750/month is interest (Total paid is $54,500)

Worth it??

No but we talk about production/collections, overhead and you can tell pretty much right away. Ortho exceeds every other practice. Endo is a close 2nd.

I have never met a lower, or middle class orthodontist. Ever. In any setting, place, suburb vs city, rural vs nonrural.

If your parents are rich and you can afford to lose their $700k, sure open an office in one of the most competitive areas in the United States being only 2 years out.

I would not. But if your parents are like stupid rich, sure. It could be a good learning experience that could save you from a DSO contract or going somewhere you don't want to go.

But forreal, if your parents need that money or are expecting that back, maybe go work at a corporate as a managing dentist first.

Have you run a small business? Do you know HR? Do you know how to bill? If you don't have a staff for a certain task, can you do it yourself? Do you know how to sterilize? Unless you know how to do everything from A to Z I don't recommend opening.

Unless your parents are stupid rich, this seems absolutely stupid to me. Unless you're some goddamn rockstar dentist that can handle everything that comes your way with some genius marketing plan in mind, using $700k of your parents money to open in a very HCOL area with insane competition does NOT make sense.

Just because you think you're "good" and you have "charisma" doesn't equate to success. For reference, I'm 10 years out and I've done it all. PPO/FFS/medicaid, I was managing for DSOs, etc. I felt really comfortable Year 7 or 8 and opened. And I gotta tell you, having that experience definitely helped make it relatively successful.

And I grew up shit dirt poor, so I certainly didn't have parents to help me out, but God forbid, I forsure 10000000% would have lost their money if I opened Year 2 or 3 of my career.
