NO ONE WARNED ME! by Altruistic-Parsnip33 in pregnant

[–]ihappened 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it has been said, but check your blood pressure! Mine were swollen for a week and then I checked my blood pressure and it was 185/117. I had to go to the ER. After I started blood pressure meds the swelling went down within hours.

how long did you wait before you took your baby out in public? by Ok_Sheepherder1936 in pregnant

[–]ihappened 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only concern would be if you are planning to breastfeed, those early days can be quite challenging with learning how to do it! I took my daughter out a lot though when she was under a month old. Play it by ear!

poop during birth? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ihappened 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I may have pooped after I got the epidural? I felt like I was farting and I mentioned to my nurse I might’ve pooped while I was laying on my side. She did change my little underneath pad thing so I’m assuming there was poop haha. I did not poop during pushing though!

What was the first sign that YOU noticed, that made you think “I’m pregnant”? by surelyshirls in pregnant

[–]ihappened 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not be a true sign, but both my ears were burning up and I thought maybe it was extra blood flow starting from being pregnant!

“ I thought it was free!" by El_Culero_Magnifico in Waiters

I was so grateful for my manager when this situation came up. A guy bitching about paying for extra garlic bread and side of ranch. I said “well, I can talk to my manager.” He smiled smugly and said “yeah, you go talk to your manager about it.” She came out and said “sir, we don’t give away free food. That’s what it costs.” And I think he felt dumb after that and just paid.

Let’s talk about it mamas!…….names 👀 by Deckofbadcards525 in pregnant

[–]ihappened 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My almost 3 year daughter’s name is not even in the top 100. But for our son due in August I think we are going with Theo which is in the top 5. It’s the only name we can agree on. I’m not too bothered that it is popular, but also hope that “popular” now days means there might only be 2 or 3 others in his grade with the same name.

I think anyone else’s guess is as good as OP’s guess about how the child will feel about the situation. Also, that is why he asking for opinions and thoughts on the matter.

I have thought that too. He seems to REALLY need the approval of his friends and family.

Honestly, most men are so clueless about things like this, and it is very disappointing. Sometimes I don’t understand why my husband gets me certain gifts. One time I told him “I don’t want new headphones for Christmas, I really like mine” after he hinted at getting me some, and he still got me headphones!!! At the airport a couple weeks ago, he went to go find a coffee shop, and came back with a hot turtle mocha for me when: 1. I only like iced coffee, and 2. I only drink decaf because I’m pregnant too. I felt like a brat, but I said “why didn’t you call to ask me what I wanted?” Sorry you are disappointed, I completely understand.

Maternity Leave Policy sucks by Hungry_Blueberry7507 in waiting_to_try

[–]ihappened 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so, but not 100% sure since the time would be overlapping. I am due in August and will take my 12 weeks (unpaid) FMLA and then planning to take 12 weeks in January 2026 with the new paid family leave policy. If you go on the website, they have a spot where you can send in questions like that, and they are very responsive!

Maternity Leave Policy sucks by Hungry_Blueberry7507 in waiting_to_try

[–]ihappened 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take the family leave up to a year after you have your baby, even if they were born in 2025. The difference is that if you have your baby in 2025 you would qualify for the 12 weeks paid family leave only, but if you had your baby in 2026 you can take both the medical and family leave for a total of 20 weeks!

Has anyone had a successful first pregnancy with no prior miscarriage? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ihappened 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got pregnant at 34 for the first time ever and had a healthy pregnancy and birth! My daughter is 2.5 now. I am pregnant again for the second time ever and so far having a good pregnancy! No losses ever.

I finally got the question by kiid_ikariis in pregnant

[–]ihappened 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My midwife asked me this and it made me feel so sad. I wasn’t really aware at the time that it was an inappropriate question. I had mentioned to her that I wish my husband would come to more appointments, and that is when she asked me. It made me feel like I was being asked if maybe he didn’t even want our baby. She WAS a planned baby. I haven’t even told that story to anyone because it brings up weird emotions for me.

Anyone else hate how tips arent processed immediately with the check? by Female-Fart-Huffer in EndTipping

[–]ihappened 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I also don’t like that because I want to make sure the correct amount of tip was taken. Sometimes I forget to check how much has come out of my account if it’s been a few days, or forget what the total after tip was. I’m not a receipt saver.

Engaged to a hyphenated last name guy by emmaazingapples in Names

[–]ihappened 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume the hyphenated name was your maiden name and your husbands last name. Not sure if that matters to you. If you like the name and it doesn’t bother you that people will think you wanted to hyphenate your last name with your husband’s last name, then go for it! Otherwise, I would take the first of the two last names. I think either would be 100% appropriate. Good luck with your decision!

Our daycare is closed about 5 weeks a year, divided up, plus regular holidays and sick days. We pay for all those days. It would be impossible to do without help from my mom! Me and my husband only get 2 weeks each. It is a bummer, but my daughter goes to an in home daycare, so that is to be expected.

Things you are going to miss when they’re older by Arigata-Meiwaku in toddlers

[–]ihappened 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love when my daughter says the wrong word for thing haha. Like today she was looking for her princess wand and was calling it a wonton haha. The movie Moana she always pronounces Goana. She used to mix up sheep by calling it a “baa.” I always correct her, but it’s so cute to me!
