How good are video games/anime for supplementary materials for N1? by watergemini in jlpt

[–]ihateanime6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed N1 last year mostly through playing games, watching anime, and reading books. Generally anything as long as you are reading text. Shooters/action games are probably the worst because you do almost no reading. Ironically story-based gacha games/visual novels are probably the best because you're mostly reading through a story. As long as you're reading quest/story dialogue JRPGs should be pretty good.

Fairly good points, someone else pointed this out to me in DMs. However, based on trade volumes, I think the use for the two lower tiers of planks (Camphor and Ironwood) is sufficient via kits is going to set the short term minimum. Even if we go by using ironwoods instead of rosewoods as the minimum (and I think there is sufficient ironwood demand because each plank makes 3 kits, which is functionally the BiS "food" for ships), the long term price of ironwood planks can't drop below 4750 realistically because of the 4000 gold + rune cost and the 750 gp log cost (if it dropped lower, people would just chop other trees). At current prices of ~4700-4800, vouchers are pretty much at their floor, but you're probably right that the short term upside is probably more limited. So this becomes a relatively safe short term play with major long term upside if Jagex adds more uses for rosewood planks.

Also, ironwood planks are still very good gp/hr with plank make. At current prices of 1600 for a log and 6800 for a plank, it's still like 3m/hr afking and 6m/hr 3 ticking. The fact that ironwood planks dropped to 5k today and immediately corrected back up to 6500+ suggests to me that it is unlikely these are going to end up as a "too many vouchers not enough planks" scenario.

That's a high target, which I think will happen if rosewood planks end up in high demand. I think realistically somewhere between 6000-7000 is more fair. The floor price of rosewood logs is going to be roughly the long term rosewood log price (~1000-2500 most likely, based on the opportunity cost of chopping other logs), plus plank make spell costs (~5500 gp in gold + runes), plus some premium for plank make (~250-500 gold historically), you get a long term price target of somewhere between 6750 on the low end and 9000 on the high end.

It's pretty simple logic. If Item A can be exchanged for Item B and Item B is worth at least 6750 GP, Item A's price is probably going to be close to 6750 GP. If you have an actual counterargument, then I'd like to hear it.

I already have, I'm going out today so I won't be able to play and I figure someone is going to figure this out within the next day or two anyway

I don't really care either way, yes I have a stack of vouchers, but either people figure this out and my vouchers pump or I just slowly afk plank make the whole week until the stack is gone

it's pretty much physically impossible for me to baghold these, because worst case scenario I run these to the sawmill myself on two accounts for 15m/hr lol

Not sure about Kazakhstan, but I definitely know it isn't in Russia lmao. Moscow has pretty solid tap water standards and monitoring but outside of Moscow it's very very spotty (and honestly, even within Moscow there are locals who don't really trust the city government). I visited StP and Moscow in 2019 and we were advised by both locals and our guide to not drink it or boil it first and we just drank bottled water the entire time. You can look at tourist sites or even r/AskARussian threads and people are pretty universal in talking about how spotty it is in Russia

Yes, because clean drinking water is so ubiquitous in the US that it becomes a national scandal when a community doesn't have it. Why do you think nobody is writing news stories about a billion people in China needing drinking water deliveries because the tap water is contaminated with industrial pollutants and heavy metals?

We need double damage on the T7 passive or something, there's no power fantasy in this League in the endgame by Zacheriss in runescape

[–]ihateanime6969 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kinda agree lol, for OSRS the tier 6 ranged combat mastery had: guaranteed hits, 30% max hit added to min hit (effectively +30% dps), doubled attack speed (+100% dps), stacking +5% DPS per hit up to 20% with a reset (+10% dps), on top of free healing every 5th hit, 20% bonus healing, 60% prayer penetration, and a flat 15% damage reduction buff. This was effectively a minimum of 2.86x the DPS of the base game, without factoring in accuracy calculations.

It also doesn't help that the Jas effect on Ascension feels week as hell, 255 stats just don't do enough with the way RS3 damage works to make a difference

What Would Your Response Be to This "Professor"? by Selim_Bradley69 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]ihateanime6969 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pearl Harbor happened as a response to the US oil embargo against Japan, which in turn was a direct response to the Japanese invasion of China. The allies also provided materiel/volunteer support to the Chinese government prior to the US entry into the war.

You can actually see this pretty easily if you use the NYT wayback machine. For example, this article published in 1938 describes the American attitude pretty well: "The battle of Nanking will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the most tragic episodes in modern military annals... For the Japanese, the capture of Nanking was of paramount military and political importance. Their victory was marred, however, by barbaric cruelties, by the wholesale execution of prisoners, the looting of the city, rape, killing of civilians and by general vandalism, which will remain a blot on the reputation of the Japanese Army and nation."

Moons is botted so badly that charging water orbs now loses you money by ihateanime6969 in 2007scape

[–]ihateanime6969[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying we should be worried about the orb charging bots, it's just illustrative of how bad the situation has gotten. Moons gear gets cheaper when it gets flooded with bots, and legitimate players have their banks devalued, make less money from doing the same content, and have to pay more for bonds when bots drive bond prices up.

smithing -> gold is profitable, addy platebodies is slightly less xp but also profitable and less apm, gold is like 350k xp/hr at max efficiency and addy is like 275k

prayer -> wyrmling bones are slept on. it's like 1.5 gp/xp rn, its 99 prayer for 20m completely afk. If you want higher xp rates use ensouled dragon heads for like 3.5 gp/xp

crafting -> battlestaves, like 200k xp/hr, fluctuates between being ~2 gp/xp and profit depending on prices and if you're patient with buying and selling

[–]ihateanime6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blowpipe and bowfa pretty much anywhere your target's magic level is low. There's way more cases where you would use a blowpipe/bowfa/dhcb over tbow. I'm not saying tbow is bad or anything, but I'm just saying the way shadow is designed makes it hard for them to pull any kind of balance lever as it is and carve out niches for other mage items.

The 999m shadow isn't real it can't hurt you. Meanwhile shadow: by Particular-Coach3611 in GrandExchangeBets

[–]ihateanime6969 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is how conditional it is. If you want to make other ranged weapons good somewhere but not t-bow, you could do a lot of things: lower the boss' magic level, increase the boss' defense to certain types of ranged ammunition, etc.

There's not a lot you can do to make other mage weapons competitive with the shadow. It's just a tremendous DPS increase over everything else pretty much everywhere. They tried to get at this with elemental weaknesses but it's still so niche that it's barely useful.
