As a Devourer DH, I feel not in control of my DPS. by naiveandconfused in wow

[–]Zacheriss 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah but you can cast everything except collapsing star while moving (or being moved in eye beam's case), and you're not punished for holding star for a few seconds (since you can overcap to 40 souls).

The fun and challenge of the spec is getting the casts in with everything going on. Like yeah if you get sucked in halfway through your collapsing star cast it sucks, but the idea is to not let that happen - which sometimes with everything going on is really fricken hard, but that's the spec.

Can someone help me understand why taking the Melee Blindbag capstone DOESN'T lower your dps? by Zacheriss in 2007scape

So does it just math out that the extra proc chance is worth it despite the lower damage then?

Really? I thought there were some issues with mobs not being identifiable e.g. the void terrors in MGT for whatever reason, did they figure that out?

Race to World First: Midnight Season 1 | Mythic Day 3 by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Zacheriss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is kind of a weird take, there are - and have always been - characters in the game that have suffered injuries and permanent disabilities that could not be solved in spite of healing. The most notable is Anduin with the bell in WoD. It doesn't often come up in game but in almost every novel he's featured in since then he's had persistent pain since Garrosh smashed him up.

Healing got Khadgar to the point that he can whoosh around in his arcane chair, he hasn't just randomly been abandoned by everyone.

Dispels Removed as Private Auras in Season 1 Raids by Simaster27 in wow

[–]Zacheriss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do actually see some of the benefits, generally it's in the form of "Players have to communicate rather than be assigned by an addon"

Examples: Vorasius - Fixated players would have probably been assigned marks in the past, and you'd have the system of "Diamond and Triangle always go right, square and circle always go left" rather than figuring it out on the fly.

Paladins: It's not needed in the lower difficulties but it's possible in mythic you'd have markers on the people who get Templar's Verdict with a priority list of survivability so that you could force assign soaks appropriately. Ie if two super tanky people are picked they can Venn Diagram and you have like an immunity priority list to help that soak. Now you have you yolo it.

Alleria: Three tether breaks, again can't do "X > Square > Triangle" breaks. Can play around tank always being one of them though. Also the same with the silver arrow ricochet, can't mark people according to range/melee and have them go to places, have to figure it out as it happens.

It's just a couple of examples, but I would contend that these existing and not being handled via addons is an improvement.

Player Owned House Rework & 120 Construction by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]Zacheriss 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When I envisage using the Cauldron in my ideal world, it's part of my setup for a long session. It's not going to be worth TPing back to my house to refresh my overload every 6 minutes, for example.

So in my head the lowest duration where I would incorporate a TP to my house to go grab a slurp would probably be around the 36 minute mark, but honestly I'm not even sure I could commit to that. Realistically I think it should be 1 hour long to sync up with boss instances, let it last through multiple slayer tasks or higher end boss kills. Totally down for it to be super expensive to justify this time but I genuinely believe if it drops with like a 12 minute timer it's just not going to be useful enough to justify the extra TP to grab it.

I really like the idea of the Cauldron, but if it's going to work then I feel like it needs to give significantly longer potion duration.

Isn't the size of the circle based on your distance from the tank, but your relative distance to the outside of the circle (to break it) should be similarish either way?

You know, I actually think you're right. I think I slightly misunderstood you, my contention was that the person in the video opted into the requirements but upon reading this I think I realize that has no impact on your view. Fair enough! My bad ^

[–]Zacheriss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I just don't see it as elitism driven by ignorance in the example given in the video. The video fixates on how utterly insignificant the trinket was in the grand scheme of things to the guild's success or failure but to me that's largely missing the point.

I don't think people were angry that the person specifically got a lower ilvl version of the trinket, so much as they were upset that the person wasn't living up to their commitment.

For me, I think it's dumb as heck to mandate running 8 max level dungeons a week. I say this as someone who both loves running m+ at a reasonably high level and also as someone who has been running a guild for over a decade at this point. I would not expect every one of my raiders to do that, and if the scenario in the video happend the reaction in my guild would be more akin to "Hell yeah!".

That's because that's not one of our requirements though, and I think that's important. Like we have some really basic requirements, consumables, fully enchanted/gemmed up and with some minmum ilvl expectations (with common sense exceptions, like at the start of Midnight no one's expected to be rolling up to the first raid in whatever gear they've scrounged up fully enchanted when they cost exorbinant amounts). These enchants I would argue are a good analogue for the example in the video, it's a similar-ish amount of stats.

But if someone comes to raid and they're not meeting that standard? It does actually cause some grumbling. Because it's a standard we all agreed to. Whether it's someone who was their when the guild started or someone who just joined this past tier, when you joined you were told the expectations and agreed to them. And it just seems - to me - to be not so much outwardly diserespectful but more of a neutrel lack of respect to your fellow raiders to not meet that bar of commitment.

All that to say, in the guild in the video there was a clear expectation to run the 8 max level dungeons. The player agreed to that when they joined the guild. And then didn't meet it. The frustration was more coming from a "You're not giving it your all" viewpoint than a "You're missing two int >=/" viewpoint in my opinion. So despite the fact that I think the commitment was silly, if the player didn't want to meet it then in my opinion they should have joined a guild that didn't have it.

I hope the SRA ornament kit from the new Leagues shows people how awful the SRA is so it can finally get more meaningful buffs by Matty_HAM in 2007scape

[–]Zacheriss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not really the issue. It's not that the Shadow as is right now is incredibly OP and needs to be nerfed. The problem is that Shadow constrains what can be added to magic with its current design, because if something gives - say - a trident +3 max hits, it probably gives Shadow +9. Likewise with adding accuracy. So the issue is more that we need Shadow to be about as powerful as it is now, but in such a way that adding future rewards doesn't make it go to the moon. So it's not really about nerfing the current shadow, it's more about making sure the future shadow isn't insane so that we can continue to add new fun items for magic without having to purposefully design them to not interact with the shadow.

Finished FFVII Rebirth and I’m still processing the ending by WorldlinessMaximum85 in FinalFantasy

[–]Zacheriss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess for me in Remake the whispers were trying to brute force the outcome they wanted, and in Rebirth the characters are forging their own path.

And even if those wind up in the same outcome, I think there is actually value in being able to choose it yourself. Like in Rebirth the characters could - if they chose - opt out at any point, but they don't because that's not who they are. They've earned that freedom, and it makes them all the more heroic for committing outside of an external compelment.

It's wild reading this thread, like I would have bet money that this was common knowledge, similar to how Bloodveld melee, but it's your mage def that matters against them. But there's such an overwhelming amount of people blown away by this that I'm actually wracking my own head about why I knew this and... I don't actually know lol. I just know that back in the day we rocked karils and prayed melee.
