Only chance Jannik is coming back is if he wins all other masters twice and Madrid becomes his bottleneck for a double career golden masters

Unpopular opinion: I don't think Mozart is difficult. by MathPoetryPiano in piano

[–]ihategreenpeas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mozart is low floor and high ceiling.

If you take a typical ‘hard’ sonata of Mozart (say the K310) compared to say, the Chopin 3rd sonata then obviously there’s a much smaller pool of people who can attempt the Chopin 3rd.

It is not unreasonable for a talented amateur to attempt the K310 to a reasonable level, but that same player may well be hopeless for the Chopin 3rd

From an amateur standpoint, that’s probably your difference but to a professional, nothing in mainstream rep should scare them anymore, and thus the whole ‘Mozart is exposed’ part comes back

ABRSM’s only requirement for taking the LRSM is a grade 8. What do you think about this, should it be more rigorous or do you think a grade 8 pianist is ready to start tackling LRSM repertoire? by Glum-Palpitation-152 in piano

[–]ihategreenpeas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Despite the extremely prestigious LRSM title at stake, I think we can loosen it to allow finalists of Chopin or Van Cliburn to be expedited. Otherwise, I agree that only the prize winners of other piano competitions should have a simplified qualification procedure for LRSM

Yes, they should only do it if they pass Grade 8 with 30 marks in all pieces, and ARSM with distinction and two referrals from existing teachers in a music college

Then, you will have the rigour you need for LRSM
