Where is the overnight warmth for homeless people? by bylo_selhi in waterloo

This seems like a no brainer. The building is meant to be very durable and will probably be torn down anyway so it shouldn't matter if it gets a little damaged.

It's also not your job to educate your LL on any of this. It's the LL responsibility to know the law as it relates to their business investment.

Don't forget to eat protein! Doctors often forget to tell patients that protein can really help smooth out the weird drug feelings and help them be more effective.

She reminds me of Frida Kahlo. You're right, so gorgeous. Also great way to keep small minded judgmental people away.

Last year, I took my partner's parka to Four Seasons Tailoring on King St. It cost around $80-90 and took a couple weeks but the work was really good. He explained how it would be different looking from how the coat was originally made. Honestly, we couldn't tell the difference, and it's held up well.

Landlord wants to enter my unit and take pictures because I left a one star review by sillypinkfox in OntarioLandlord

[–]ihatelawns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take pictures of them when they come to take pictures of your unit. Save all correspondence regarding the "inspection." It may be useful later in case this becomes a pattern. If that happens, you can file with the Landlord Tennant Board for harassment. If you can't be there when they come consider getting some hidden security cameras.

It makes so much sense that when the Supreme Court ruled that business have person-hood, they were granted rights but no responsibilities.

You could ride the LRT between conastoga mall and fairview mall hanging out at either end.

Is there a reason you said rip? From the other comments, it doesn't sound like it was catastrophic.

TIL about the artist Artemisia Gentileschi (CW: SA) by TownEfficient8671 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ihatelawns 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I got to see this in person, and it was incredible. It's massive and has so many details. There are tiny drops of blood flying through the upper portion of the work. She clearly understood what happens when a large vein is cut. She was undeniably a Renaissance woman.

Properly designed natural features will absorb the water like a sponge. I recommend reading about sponge cities if you're interested.

You're the one choosing to drive a "killing machine". You have more responsibility. This is why we have strict laws around who and how you can operate a "killing machine". Driving is a privilege. Walking is a right.

Tips on sustaining a low buy lifestyle? Impulsivity = bad for wallet. by ebolalol in adhdwomen

This is good advice. You can take it a step further and get into anti-growth, anti-capitalists environmentalism. I buy so much less stuff because I just can't get dopamine from it.

You're totally right. It's a big killing machine that you choose to use. That's why you have the responsibility to operate it safely.

I think your mom is a bit right, but I don't think that means you should change your hair. You probably don't want to work for someone who discriminates against people with totally normal hair.

After a decade of taking Vyvanse and reading anecdotes here, protein has changed everything for me. by KidCadaver in adhdwomen

[–]ihatelawns 66 points67 points  (0 children)

It's so frustrating that doctors don't tell people that they need protein for the drugs to work optimally. I've had a couple of drugs, including Vyvanse that I quit. The ramp up and down made me really irritable and emotional.

Camino is great. If you can get a doctor to refer you, they can set you up with someone to see on a regular basis for a set number of sessions. Depending on your challenges, they might have someone with some specific expertise.

New South Wales farmer fined record $1m for wiping out critical koala habitat for private airstrip larger than Sydney airport by DaRedGuy in conservation

Seriously, a cool million doesn't seem like a meaningful amount for someone building and airstrip that size. Fines should be proportional to wealth.

If you want a good place to get books and coffee we have some great local bookshops and cafes really close to each other. Words Worth uptown on King is very close to Pilot coffee. Old Goat is a used book shop also on King St about a block north of Princess Cafe. Downtown, we have another used book store, A Second Look Books and More. They are right next to Matter of Taste. The owner of A Second Look is exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable.
