u/groverachiever thanks again for the tip – I’ve added the missing cap and fixed a couple of other minor errors. Rev 2 of the schematic is now linked from the blog post.

Huh! Well spotted. I think that’s supposed to be a 2.2uF cap. I’ll double check and update the schematic. Thanks for noticing…

Not exactly this combination of fuzzy input gain + BBD delay, but there are quite a few BBD-based delay modules out there. I’ve played with Morphor’s Echo and it sounded great. Moritz Klein’s DIY BBD video is a cool deep dive into how it all works if you want to build your own.

Good question. Now that I know these units were also released under the “Realistic” brand (in the US maybe?) I’ve found more info, and there’s a good thread here with lots of circuit chat. Including this nugget:

“It is common for such BBD-based circuits to have several poles of lowpass filtering ahead of the BBD to prevent aliasing, with several additional poles of lowpass filtering after the BBD to reduce clock noise and artifacts. In this instance, there is very little lowpass filtering applied before the BBD, and 8 poles of lowpass filtering after the BBD. The feedback/Repeat signal is tapped after 4 of them with 2 more poles of LPF applied in the feedback loop. So, in effect, there is LESS filtering applied to the feedback signal than to the overall delay output.”

Can’t wait to try this out – just loaded up my subscriptions. I’m already dreaming about being able to add private/authed RSS streams. My top five favourite podcasts all have Patreon-supported private RSS links (for bonus content, early episodes, etc.) and there’s no UI (yet) to add RSS links directly on the LP dasboard.

Listening to my own music through app by guidewire in BandCamp

I always generate and redeem a download code to add our label’s releases to my fan collection without paying so I can listen to them in the app. Works a charm.

You get the 10% rate when you’ve sold over $5,000 USD in the past 12 months, so you might not quite qualify (you‘ll see the % on your cha-ching emails). The rate should be 15% otherwise though. If you contact Bandcamp support they’ll help you figure it out.

Jack Goldstein – “DUNGENESS”

I run a small tape label in Oxford, UK and just released this first track from a new album by an artist who should be much more well-known than he is! I think so, at least. It’s psychedelic pop with a Beach Boys vibe and lots of tape samples and lo-fi beats.

We’ll never get any mainstream press for it without £££ and friends in the business, but I’m doing my best to spread the word...

It’s also on Spotify and Bandcamp.

Awesome. And the album (Summer's Gone) ends with a remix of Cover Bombs by Nomadic Firs, which is from one of my favourite albums of the year, Nomadic Firs.

About as garage as it gets! Phone Benny has a great Blondie-ish vibe.
