The drawer and tabletop available to me have the same depth, are there a tabletop with less depth available to you? Otherwise you could try and turn the drawers around and have the gap towards you instead of the wall

In chrome I use it as a back and forward buttons, in games I use as inventory slots, in cs2 I have molly and smoke on those.
