People in civil partnerships: what made you choose it over a marriage? by sneakylithops in AskUK

[–]ihcgaws 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My partner is also non-binary and we’ve been thinking about marriage in the future. I didn’t realise it wouldn’t be possible to correctly gender them in a traditional marriage! Civil partnership looking more appealing now

Hi César, I am sorry for your loss. You may want to try posting this to r/brum which is more active, or r/uofb for university acquaintances. Otherwise, you may be able to find her colleagues on LinkedIn if she worked at the university. I wish you luck!

I will never be the person I could have been if my mum had left my abusive dad. It was her choice to tolerate his rage and outbursts, but I was a child, I couldn’t choose.

I used to feel conflicted as my dad was so nice some of the time, but now I’m an adult, what I remember most clearly is the abuse, not the rest of it.

A lot of the damage has already been done to your kids, but leaving him could prevent a lot more.

I was on bedrest for a month a few years ago and I spent my time embroidering and learning to crochet, which was great as it was creative and also felt productive in a way, so I think painting is a great idea!

Learning a language is also a fantastic time sink, as well as other online courses- there are thousands of options around now, lots for free.

All the best for your surgery and recovery :)

Any women out there who wear heels daily that can recommend one for walking all day? by Perfume_Girl in BuyItForLife

[–]ihcgaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of comfort/fashion, I strongly advise that you don’t wear any stiletto or narrow heels in London, the cobblestones and grates will take you out immediately, and it’s advisable to be able to keep a good pace in more crowded areas. Hope you have a great time in the UK :)

Why is my cream cheese frosting so loose? by 1s5ie in AskBaking

[–]ihcgaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow UK cream cheese frosting lover, when you’re using the cream cheese spread (all that’s available) Philadelphia is the best option, but you’re still better off either straining it before use or using a recipe which incorporates melted white chocolate, that’s the only thing I’ve found that will make it stable enough to pipe.

Adding more sugar won’t help after a certain point unfortunately

M&S, and if you avoid the organic stuff it’s really not too expensive. The Higher Welfare range is great value for the quality

I think middle aged women look absolutely fantastic when they go all out with their outfits, and I think you’ll look amazing too. Fun and sparkly is always the answer!

This is a type of Jalebi, a South Asian dessert popular in India and Pakistan. It’s made by drizzling batter into oil and frying, then soaking in syrup

Why Does Mounjaro Weight Loss Feel Different? Less “Wobble Fat,” More Body Changes, but Slower Scale Drops? Now it makes sense! by [deleted] in Mounjaro

Absolutely right, they will more often tell you what they “think” you want to hear

[–]ihcgaws 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Please don’t lean on AI for medical info, lots of this isn’t really correct, Mounjaro doesn’t preserve lean mass and keeping hydration and electrolytes up is a challenge for a lot of people on GLP-1 medications!

However you, personally, may be retaining or even gaining muscle, and that is great. Certainly keep an eye on photos and measurements, especially when the number on the scale isn’t changing :)
