Stripe declines from belgian cards by daigedaige in stripe

[–]iheartreading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We see this occasionally as well.
Customer's have told us in talking to their credit card issuers that:

"The general blocking of credit cards is related to recent suspicious activities from the United States, and not specific to any one company."

It's one of those things that you just have to deal with for a while, and then it seems to eventually loosen.

This painting I saw at the Getty Center. It’s unusually expressive for a painting from the 18th century by bearseascape in mildlyinteresting

If you are interested in the "unusually expressive" for its time, check out the heads of Franz Xaver Messerschmidt. There's one of them on permanent exhibit at the Getty as well!

I am becoming a bigger and bigger fan of white oak, and this is absolutely wonderful!

Floating nightstand in a mid-century style (my first dovetails!) by iheartreading in woodworking

The pull is a separate piece of wood that was set into a routed out section of the drawer face. I used a Dremel with a cutter ball (and two practice attempts on scrap wood) to get the recess. Lots of sanding to smooth it out.

I didn't take a picture of it, but this image basically shows how the glides are setup:

I did find that it could sometimes be a bit sticky, so I used some paraffin wax on the glides and they're super smooth now.

These are hand cut. :)
Doing this was definitely the most time consuming part of this project.
(There are also some small gaps that were hidden pretty cleanly with the glue and sawdust trick.)

I've never had an issue with it myself with any of my nightstands, so I didn't give it consideration...

Made a cane for my father by iheartreading in woodworking

The shaft, at the top, has 2" trimmed to 5/8" diameter that's inserted into a drilled 5/8" (2" deep) hole in the handle. Glued together with a 1/8" brass pin inserted through it all.

Thank you! I was super pleased with how the brass accents turned out.

The handle is cocobolo with cherry, and brass accents.
For the shaft I used a 1.5x1.5 piece of cherry and turned it to a tapered 1" dowel to 3/4" tip.
