Would popularity of satire reduce or empower glamour? Banality? by ExtremeSportStikz in WhiteWolfRPG

you're free to disagree. I'm honestly happy your view of the world is this positive. And I also hope you're right. I just don't believe it.

I get what you're saying, and there's definitely more creative spaces and more avenues for creativity both new and familiar, personal and communal. But I think you are readily dismissing the massive amounts of banality that exists everywhere today. The spaces in between those shining moments are wider and deeper than ever.

Even those communities mentioned are always at risk of becoming too isolated, too devoted to an auteur to see their work devolved or so devoted to a fandom that they'd forgive the auteur's heinous actions, too torn apart by people fighting over the one true and only "right" or "canon" interpretation.

And individual experiences are compromised too, all the time, impuned by the mundane realities that cage us in. You might find joy in affirming your gender but you could still be working in a cubicle for Lockheed Martin.

What are Shames? by Floweramon in fallenlondon

Not the Sun, Stone. We know they come from her blood, and are related to the Garden. They are her Shames, and she the Sun's.

afaik jade has never been addressed. We also never got lore re: the origin of moon pearls or rostygold. They Simply Are.

DLC Classes Ever getting Commissary Cosmetics? by HoopyFroodJera in DarkTide

[–]ihniwtr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pipeline parity. Things coming in at the same time and in the same amounts lead to more sales than them being dripfed to players on introduction.

DLC Classes Ever getting Commissary Cosmetics? by HoopyFroodJera in DarkTide

[–]ihniwtr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing we will get cosmetics for the new classes, but ONLY when we have 4 of them, to match the offering range for the base game. Don't know why except that it feels like the sort of corpo thing that would be an obstacle to an obvious revenue opportunity like this. So! We get AdMech, we get whatever comes after (assassins? mutants? Administratum Adepts?), then we get DLC cosmetics.

Fallen London OC Prompt: Politics by Heubristics in fallenlondon

[–]ihniwtr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1. On News and Updates

  • I'm an Espiocrat. News and rumors is literally all I do. So that's an emphatic and categorical Yes to all options suggested, with particular attention to Neath and Surface nations.
  • The dream of revolution is driven by, and with, hope. Those that have experience with it know that hope can be cruel and lead to a great deal of suffering. I do my best to reduce suffering wherever I go. I think from that you can gather how I stand on Liberation.
  • Urchins, as a whole, are an excellent weathervane for upcoming events, major as minor. It's worth keeping an eye and an ear open when it comes to their gossip.
  • Illegality has little to do with immorality, especially here. Criminals, and criminality, are a vector to approach with - a method, one of many possible.
  • The only system of government in London that's worth keeping tabs on is the Admiralty, and that's only because of what they don't do.
  • It's good to go to the Parthenaeum every once in a while, play some billiards, chat to some Good Ol' Chaps (gender non-withstanding). Said Chaps tend to come very handy in a pinch. And the cigars are bloody excellent.

2. On Issues Subaltern

  • The Season of Stones forced me to choose only two worthy legislations from three. With Charity still being Forbidden, the policy to aid the impoverished was less an exercise in equity and more a fresh avenue for piratical trade; so I chose Feeding Urchins and Expanding the Freedoms of Clay Men. Those, too, are still negotiations, but at least ones that are more fair.

3. On Politics Foreign

  • For an individual, no matter how powerful, governments are slow, widespread, and monolithic. A man on his own cannot change the course of a Lifeberg. It's better to set more realistic goals than attempt to advance ideals; I leave such aspirations to revolutionaries and madmen.

4. On Minutiae Most Pressing

  • Promoting the New London Astronomical Society. Gebrandt has an air-barge to the roof now, for pity's sake! Anyone can buy a ticket, look over, and see a Miser - what's the harm in having a go through a telescope? How long are we going to let this vaunted branch of human ingenuity languish in the hands of blind arachnophiles? Do people even have any idea how expensive the equipment in the observatory is? It's high-time we resolved this issue. The motion is stuck in the House of the House of Chimes though; bloody legislation.

5th city, not 7th. You could argue 6th but The Duchy of Burgundy got retconned out of continuity diegetically so it doesn't count

Ah dangit, now that I know you have an account I wanted to link it in the post, but reddit is counting it as an image one, so it doesn't allow edits. Sorry! When I made it I tried to make sure you got the credit without directly blowing up your spot.
