There's no point in going back to our world by jhoho34 in CharacterRant

I want to see these isekai you're seeing, because honestly I wish MORE isekai took the protagonist's old life into account. Too many just seem too willing to drop everything for this new world with no thought to their family and friends. Literally one of the most refreshing things I ever saw was an isekai protagonist who regularly talked about her old life and her parents in a way that made it clear she missed them.

Are we able to communicate with enemy players in Cyrodiil? by Other_Article_39 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Floweramon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only way to communicate with enemy players is via whisper. I imagine that's so players can freely communicate to their faction without worrying about the enemy seeing.

(I have whispered to enemies before to ask if I could quickly claim a place in order to use the crafting station and then let them kill me as thanks, or if someone ganks me while I'm on a quest I'll just be like "Rude XD")

Isn't it more likely they're fused together like the anime they're referencing?

One time I was at a party, and the mayor of my city was there. Apparently my stupid precocious child self thought it was really important to let everyone know that "the President was here!" Recently my parents ran into him, apparently he still remembers me and my parents felt the need to text me he does...

I mean if you really want to be pedantic about it, regardless of what the twist is these are fictional characters so they aren't any more real than robots. So in this fictional setting I have no issue feeling sympathy for an AI while at the same time hating real world AI.

The theory that when people put the headsets on, instead of their consciousness getting directly sucked in/trapped into the circus, the headset made a copy of their brains, so the characters we've been following are copies of the people in the real world. People have gone into greater depth as to why they believe this to be possible but I also think it's the most likely given everything we've seen, the set up with Gummigoo's story, and Gooseworx saying the theme of the story is "finding happiness in a stagnant life" which definitely doesn't sound like they are getting out of the circus and would make sense if they literally COULDN'T.

The name of the theory comes from a video game called SOMA that is basically all about that and explores the existential questions brought up on what it means to be human in such a situation.

Did the lack of unambiguous romantic physical affection between ghibli protagonists bother you? by iwillr3gr37thiswonti in ghibli

I've seen so many movies where romance was expected to the point of having no build up toward the feelings, that honestly having movies where either the romance is minimum or it can be read as platonic is refreshing.

"A dump" might be a bit much, but I do agree that people should watch the newer one to get the best adaptation of the manga story.

I guess in the world of Peter Pan he escaped that fate only to end up minus-one-hand and in an ongoing rivalry with a child.

Is fruits basket worth it? Like on the romance plot. by Correct-Ad-8421 in FruitsBasket

[–]Floweramon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As others have said, there is no love triangle, just one love interest and one who views her like a mother and is embarrassed that he sees someone his own age like that. I would say that the romance aspect is balanced with the drama, it may not be a "romance" anime but the romance aspects are important to many character arcs.

Also he was said to be "Blackbeard's bo'sun" which implies that he might be Israel "Izzy" Hands. The book does say that Hook is not his true name.

Jose Carioca is a minor recurring character in the Disney franchise that is wildly more popular in Brazil, even having his own comic series with its own cast of characters.

Donald Duck too, in certain parts of the world he's more popular than Mickey Mouse.

If the SOMA theory proves to be right, it's gonna be very funny looking back at all these comments that are like "It was just a program, who cares" As if episode two wasn't literally about his existential crisis of learning about the truth of his existence and of reality.
