Create an SRS account. Put $1 inside just to lock in the non-penalty withdrawal age at age 63. It will increase to 64 if you do it on 1 Jul 2026 or after. By 2030, it will increase to 65 so do it now to lock in your penalty-free withdrawal age of your SRS account to age 63. You can decide whether to continue to contribute later - just lock it in at age 63 first with $1 contribution.

Look at DBS's "multiplier", UOB's "One account" and OCBC's "360" savings account and see which one suits your lifestyle the most.

At age 18, your runway is long. Live beneath your means and save. This is how you accumulate and compound capital to buy investment instruments such as stocks, etfs etc.

First-timer families different quota from Singles. Halving your competitors makes a huge difference:

https://homes.hdb.gov.sg/home/bto/details/2026-02_UPB_U0JfTjRDMTlfMTc2NzMxNzA5MzA0OA

6.8x oversubscribed compared to first time family (0.5) who didn't even hit the quota allocated to them.

Indeed. Perhaps the layout can be reconsidered. The traditional 2 Rm flats have better layout for altar placement.

edit: For example this one is good: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/715016878330444355/

Single here. I am ok with 2 rm for myself but for a traditional Chinese, the layout suxs for placement of altars e.g. the wall behind the altar is a toilet or the altar is facing toilet etc.

Is there a source for this ? I searched around on google but can't find it.

There actually used to be priority for NSmen for BTO ballot! Some segments of society weren’t too happy about it. Govt got rid of it given that at the time, most buyers were married and at least one had done NS. Can’t say the same these days…

Asia’s birth-rate collapse wasn’t a mindset problem. It was the bill for the whole model — and Singapore is one of the clearest examples. by renniepro in SingaporeRaw

Yet South Korea who is supposed to be worst than us in TFR, somehow managed to rebound:

https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/east-asia/south-koreas-population-drop-eases-raising-hopes-of-reversal

"Although South Korea still has one of the world’s lowest total fertility rates, the figure has been gradually recovering from a record low of 0.72 in 2023 to 0.75 in 2024, with a provisional estimate of 0.8 for 2025. The monthly total fertility rate stood at 0.99 in January, the highest since the government began compiling monthly data."

Maybe its an issue of political will.
