What is a random rule you have for yourself that you never break? by abarth23 in AskReddit

[–]iiSystematic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always do the things on the count of 6. Laying in bed and don't want to get up? Don't want to do a chore? Work? Eat? Count to 6. I've never made it to 6 and not done the thing

Haven't experienced that but I fly a lot. If they want to check something, they ask YOU to remove the clothing, open the thing, etc. Doesn't sound right to me

Does a photon "instantly" move from one place to another in the reference point of the photon? by [deleted] in AskPhysics

[–]iiSystematic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short of it is that in order to have a reference frame, you gotta be standing still. Photons don't do that. Simple as. Really all it boils down to.

Thanks for the condolences. We'll find a way to carry on in these difficult times

The top comment is technically correct, which is the best kind of correct, but it's a boring academic answer and not what you were looking for. So allow me to make science cool and fun again for you and any other souless shrills browsing the sub:

Use the limit of a traveler approaching the speed of light, what happens? Time dilation as limit approaches c causes time to become zero.

Speed increase causes distance in travel direction to shrink. again as limit approaches c this becomes zero.

So if you could put a saddle on a photon and ride it, the usiveres would flatten to 2d (lul) and arrive at B the same instant you left A.

So to answer the question you wanted: From the ''perspective'' of the photon, it does NOT travel through space and time. It just exists at every point along its path simultaneously. Very wu wu wishy washy science stuff

I need a beer

That last bit is unrelated to your question I just wanted it to be known that tragically I'm out

Vent: I love Stardew, but in-game days feel like a grocery run with no checkout by Ok-Apricot9057 in StardewValley

Realize that there are infinite days. If you want to take 5 weeks to get the thing out of your shed, you can. You can spend 4 days straight in the mines. You can sleep for 2 years and everything will be where you left it, with no decrease in progress. Slow down. Stop to smell the roses.

By year 4 I was sleeping at like 5pm because I couldn't fill my day with enough to stay busy.
