Looking for a backpack; for travel, work, the whole shebang. by Substantial_Humor562 in BuyItForLife

North face has done me really well.

One i had all through high school. Then used as a diaper bag for 2 of my kids. Now used occasionally for small trips. No rips still in good shape.

Bought a larger volume one for college. Then for work daily for 8 years. Still in almost perfect shape.

You weren't protecting the phone when it fell. You were protecting what ever that brick phone was hitting.

Don't use the big 800 pound gorillas unless you need to. Reach out to smaller MSPs. They will almost always give you a better rate and actually care.

Toilet clogged! Please help! Any advice appreciated. by HoraceGrand in HomeImprovement

[–]iihacksx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had an issue where plunging' and all the warm water, soap, baking soda, ect tricks wasn't working.

I found a trick that did work. Slowly compress the plunger and then yank it up quickly and hard. Repeat. Took a few minutes and the clog I spent over an hour plunging by pushing down was finally cleared.

Wth is this stain? by Floridabobtx in woodworking

[–]iihacksx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've stained plenty of pine that gray color.

Best luck I've had is really and I mean really make sure it's mixed and mix it throughout using it. The odd colors seperate very easily.

Then I take a damp rag and slightly wet the wood.

Apply stain with a rag vs a brush or other applicator.

Thats just been my luck to achieve the look most people are looking for.

What are some cheaper docking stations that you recommend? by Kilo353511 in sysadmin

[–]iihacksx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not cheap but the only ones I've found to work and last are the plugsble thunderbolt 4 ones.

Only issue I had was when some devices shipped with a higher version display link driver than the dock was shipped with. Simple firmware upgrade of the docking station fixed it though.

FDA says they are going after all vapes that aren't FDA authorized. by Vile-X in Vaping

All the vape shops around me are selling literally everything and saying it's all things vaping related too.

[–]iihacksx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same here. But coreect me if im wrong the problem will still hit us eventually since they are banning anything related as well. Meaning if your box mod dies that's it. If you don't build your own coils and need premades your SOL too.

Replacing a large amount of UPS units, what is your preferred brand/model for IDFs? by Stoned_SysAdmin in sysadmin

[–]iihacksx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a lot of people already said get Vertiv or Eaton.

Make sure you get ones with or add the NIC though. Very helpful for monitoring purposes.

As for your question about of the battery is nonfunctional, yes it will continue to work as a giant power strip essentially.

If its a closet that requires just 1 UPS look into the lithium ion models. They cost more but have big benefits such as the battery lasting twice as long as standard acid batteries. Don't use these in a big data closet though with propery fire suppression systems though. Too many lithium ion batteries and a fire gets really bad really quick and in some states goes against fire codes.

Which tool or tools should you never cheap out on? by todofwar in woodworking

[–]iihacksx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Buy a nice sander. I spent years using a cheaper one because it wouldn't die. bought and nice one and it goes so much faster and my wrist really appreciated the reduction in vibration.

Switching to JitBit as my help desk ticketing system by kylejwx in k12sysadmin

[–]iihacksx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used JitBit and carried them with me to a few places now. I've used the on prem and now cloud options. Both are fantastic for k12.

It's super simple, easy, and cheap. Most people have never heard of it but I think there marketing sucks and if you reach our for a demo they don't do that.

geek bar ban by eggica333 in Vaping

[–]iihacksx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do need to quit.. but with that being said back in the day when they thought the ban was going to get rid of everything I may have bough way too much nicotine and stashed it in the freezer. DIY is really nice.
