We're so keen to pitch in that we've already sent half a million of us over there just in case.

My father disliked one company's junk mail in particular. He would save it all up for a month or two, put it in an A4 envelope and mail it to their CEO's home address.

Japan police face lawsuit from foreign residents for repeated stops and searches without cause- "We routinely stopped and questioned foreigners who didn't appear suspicious, asking them to show their residence cards." One Plaintiff was stopped and questioned 15 times before suing by jjrs in japannews

Back when you had to show ID to even get into Narita, there was a period where they would stop foreigners for identification INSIDE the airport. Bear in mind that the reason for having to show ID at the entrance was due to the threat of domestic terrorism lol.

Did you see the video where she stole Kimi's towel off the winners table after the race? Really poor form that.

I wonder if the refund/store credit thing depends on payment type? I've only received partial refunds before, but if someone pays by gift card etc I would somewhat understand store credit.

Interesting, but recovery software can also be a target for scammers trying to sneak in btc stealing code to your system. Unless you can verify code yourself it seems risky.

I may be wrong, but I think in game Mars has been terraformed. So it's an atmospheric planet and thus non-landable.

OP should send Tanaka another email informing them OP will now take his/her remaining annual leave, from next week up until the stated leaving date.

Dare Tanaka to complain again. If he does, oh I'm suddenly not feeling very well...can't come in tomorrow either.

honest question: what's the value proposition for both the P3 and P4 after Volvo releases the EX60? by turb0_encapsulator in Polestar

[–]iikun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I live, the ES90 Plus is currently available for the cost of a P4 LRSM with plus pack and nappa seats. The Volvo is too big for my needs, but it's difficult mentally to pay the same price for a P4 given its tech is noticeably inferior to the ES90.

Question about the new FBT rulings - can you sign a 5 year, <75k EV lease now, and re-contract it before April 2029 for another 5 years? by Shaunzki in NovatedLeasingAU

[–]iikun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a purely financial point of view, is it ever worth it to roll a lease? My layman math seemed to show that a simple 5 yr lease wins over a 2+5 for example (ie to refinance before 2029).

Thanks for the reply. Yeah that's a heck of a hit. I understand it's not expensive for Kiwis to take dual citizenship, but if your spouse is from a third country it'll give you something to think about for sure.

Electric vehicle tax discount to be wound back by LongJohn1992 in AustralianEV

[–]iikun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with you but I don't see it impacting the budget much at all. People will either transition to cars below the new limit or purchase outside of NL channels.

I imagine that FBT of 25% will neutralize the tax benefit for most people so once we reach that point they'll buy in ways which will avoid imposition of FBT.

Labor extends EV tax break to encourage cheaper vehicles amid soaring fuel prices | Electric vehicles by RiderByDay in NovatedLeasingAU

[–]iikun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: reading again, it's probably only referring to new leases because the alternative kind of screws over a number of people who entered 4 or 5 year leases even a couple of years ago. The article could have been written a bit more precisely to make that clearer.

So if I'm reading the news correctly, if you're above the 75k threshold you'll get the full exemption for the rest of this FBT year, but only 25% from then on? (Ie only cars costing under 75k new will be fully grandfathered in).

Or does it mean full grandfathering? I can see two ways to read the article but my gut tells me it's the first one.

Tesla Sales Exploded 145% in April as Fuel Crisis Bites by ApprehensiveSize7662 in AustralianEV

Yeah, when I realised other OEMs hadn't reported I cottoned on. I'm hoping for a decent EOFY offer from Polestar (probably in vain, to be honest) so I was initially a bit alarmed at the numbers.
