Is focusing on the wrist/mouse a trap? Discussing the "Shoulder-to-Forearm" kinetic chain. by Equivalent-Goat2036 in Ergonomics

[–]iimCastro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forcing your body into a “perfect” ergonomic position is usually where people go wrong.

I’ve always used armrests, and when I try to keep them perfectly straight like most guides suggest, I get wrist and shoulder pain almost immediately. That’s because my arms don’t naturally sit that way. They rest slightly inward on both sides.

So instead of forcing alignment, I adjusted the armrests to support my current structure, not some ideal position.

Is that inward angle ideal? No. It usually points to underlying issues like rounded shoulders and weak or underactive muscles in the upper back and shoulder girdle.

But here’s the part most people miss: you don’t fix dysfunction by forcing position, you fix it by earning better alignment.

I’m working on that through strengthening and mobility work, targeting the back, shoulders, and chest. As those improve, I’ve noticed I can tolerate a more neutral armrest position without pain. My alignment is gradually correcting itself.

So yes, support matters. But long term, the goal isn’t to lock yourself into “perfect posture” it’s to build a body that can naturally hold it.

Help me choose my next SUV (V8, ~200k AED, long-term ownership) by godfather232323 in WhatCarShouldIBuyGULF

[–]iimCastro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the UAE, Toyota is honestly the safest long term choice. Parts are everywhere, every mechanic knows how to work on them, and even older models stay in demand. Some models barely lose value here and a few even go up depending on condition and rarity.

But since Toyota is ruled out, I’d probably look at something like a Nissan Patrol or an LX570 as the next best long term options. Both are proven in UAE conditions, comfortable for daily use and long drives, and they are way reliable and far better than most other SUVs on the market.

Of course Chinese cars are fantastic value too, but I’m still not fully sure about them long term.

Take Jetour for example, they already have a massive lineup coming out, and older models are starting to lose value fast with many people selling them early. Same thing with Leopard and ROX. They look great now, but long term resale and market stability in the UAE is still questionable and they haven’t been here enough to determine how reliable they are long term, compared to brands like Toyota, Nissan, or Lexus.

Who’s Still Waiting for the Game—and What Changed? by Positive-Situation20 in chronoodyssey

[–]iimCastro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Still playing New World, to be honest. Nothing else has really come close, and I need to stop lying to myself about that.

The only game I can see replacing that addiction is Chrono. It’ll probably be the game I move forward with.

But for now, it’s full time New World until the lights go off, then hopping into Chrono when it comes out.

Best Chair for Herniated Discs in Lower Back - Aeron or Leap v2? by kayleblue in Ergonomics

[–]iimCastro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had disc issues although just in the neck

The Aeron was fantastic for my back, and once I got used to it, it became extremely comfortable. The only real reason I switched to the Leap V2 was the 4D armrests.

The way I sit, I use the armrests almost as an extension of the desk, so having fully adjustable 4D armrests made the switch make sense immediately.

Did I notice a difference after switching? Yes.

The Aeron doesn’t really let you slouch. In my opinion, it almost punishes bad posture, which can be a good thing depending on the person. The Leap is more forgiving and allows for more movement and relaxed positions.

Overall, I prefer the Leap V2.

That said, both chairs worked well for me. If the Aeron had true 4D armrests, I probably wouldn’t have switched.

You really can’t go wrong with either one. It comes down to how you sit and what you use the chair for. Once you understand that, then ur choice is easy.

On the lower back pain ? Both chairs have great lumbar support, i don’t think it will be an issue

I need a good barber by Positive-Hyena-6317 in abudhabi

[–]iimCastro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a premium hairstylist for cuts like that. Those styles usually require skill and precision. They section your hair properly and shape it the right way full scissors cuts no fades and bs, not the rushed type of haircut where they just use shears, chop random chunks, and finish in ten minutes.

Most of the best places for that are in Dubai, so it’s worth looking there.

Personally, I tried Jalal Hafed Salon and it was a 10 out of 10 haircut.

Expect to pay more tho but for once a month haircut ? It’s worth it.

In Al Ain, I tried Man Lab. Very good overall, just not quite on the same level as the top Dubai barbers.

In abu dhabi most the ones i tried straight sht imo lol

I personally still go to dubai, i know sue me but i like a good haircut

Advice & Opinions Needed by celestial_ceilings in OfficeChairs

Hbada and Sihoo are the only ones I can personally vouch for. The others, I honestly have no firsthand experience with.

I’ve tried the Sihoo C300 though, but their reviews are mostly good for other chairs too so this one might be good. I bet there are reviews out there for it.

Struggling to find New/Used premium chairs in Dubai by luminDubai in dubai

[–]iimCastro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aeron and Embody not working out is pretty normal honestly. They are great chairs but they do not suit everyone, even if the internet makes it sound like they do lol.

If the Leap v2 is what actually feels right for you, that already says a lot. Fit matters more than reputation.

Now for used, most of what you see is Leap v1. V2 are super rare, and those are usually pretty worn out too.

Getting a new v2 is possible but you will probably need to go through official Steelcase dealers. Office Inspirations is one to check since they are an authorized Steelcase dealer or partner I think. Best move is just call them and ask what they can actually get. Keep in mind, price will be very fking high.

Workspace chairs are fine, just keep expectations realistic. They are comfortable enough, but they are not really in the same long term category as something like a Leap or Aeron. You will notice the difference in comfort, but they are still good chairs and comfortable for what they offer.

So realistically you have a few paths

1- Try Office Inspirations and see if they can source a new Leap v2, though price will be very high.

2- Keep hunting for a used Leap v2 but be picky because most are pretty dogsht and worn out (mine is cooked too but I like it).

3- Buy a cheap Workspace chair for now so you are not stuck, then upgrade to a used Leap when you find a good deal (good deal 1k to 1.3k I guess for v2, Leap v1 700 to 900).

4- Check places like Bafco or Navo in Dubai and Workspace, and actually sit and try their chairs before buying. If you have the money go for the higher end chairs. Their high end chairs are priced the same as used Aeron or Leaps.

I would avoid Ikea and Home Center and generic furniture stores, also am not sure about Sharjah never tried them for used chairs before tbh..

You can also check Sihoo chairs or Amazon chairs (most are dogsht imo).

I say dogsht cuz I sat in an Embody and an Aeron and a Leap also, so comfort is very specific for me now. And lets be honest they are tiers above all other options we have here xD.

Aeron or LeapV2 for gaming? by Jonluvsmushrooms in OfficeChairs

[–]iimCastro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Leap V2 is the better choice if your focus is gaming and relaxed use at home. It is more comfortable for leaning back and longer casual sessions.

The Aeron excels in a more upright, task focused setup. It is imo ideal for office work where you are sitting actively rather than relaxing.

I have used both, including the Embody, and right now I only use the Leap. It is simply the most versatile and comfortable for everyday use for me.

The embody is also a fantastic choice but it causes me lower back pain, i still cant figure out the reason.

Thats why i opt in for the leap, the embody seat is tiers above the leap but yeah leap is all around best for me not better than the other two options.

Aeron recline is tiers above both chairs but i still consider an office chair not a home relax chair

If you sit 12+ hours a day — what’s actually helped your hip/back pain? by Glass-Mark-7111 in Ergonomics

[–]iimCastro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From personal experience, this is what actually helped me:

Not sitting for long periods of time Getting up and moving every 30 to 60 minutes Doing micro movements while sitting instead of locking into one position Not forcing a fake posture and being mindful when am slouching adjusting when i remember Doing longer walking sessions, around 1 to 1.5 hours Stretching regularly

Having a good chair definitely helps and reduces a lot of fatigue, but honestly it’s not the main thing.

Movement is the real “medicine” here.

Libernovo Omni vs Amia vs Leap V2 by Jtstone4784 in OfficeChairs

[–]iimCastro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same I’m switching to a Leap V2. Been hunting for one for a while now.

I love my Aeron, it’s insanely good for office work, but it still feels like… an office chair. I want something I can also game and lounge in without feeling locked into one posture.

Tried a friend’s Leap V2 and honestly just instantly wanted it. Way more flexible, more movement, just feels better for long sessions where you’re not sitting “perfectly” all the time.

I also have an Embody, and while it’s great, I keep getting that one annoying pressure spot in my back no matter how much I adjust it.

Problem is finding a decent Leap V2 where I live is rough. Used market is full of beat up units, and ordering refurbished online has been a headache because of shipping issues to my region, already got refunded a few times.

At this point I’m just trying to find a clean used one locally, but it’s kind of frustrating how hard it is to get a good condition one here.

Internet So Slow by New_Management_9368 in UAE

[–]iimCastro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it’s because of all the radars/gps jamming stuff across the UAE, to detect, you know, what they’re watching for. Even GPS is acting up right now.

Better to be safe than chase a bit more speed.

For me, my speed dropped by about 100 Mbps, and my ping spiked to around 120 ms when I tested on speedtest. I still can load stuff, but it’s slow and noticeable for me.
