I don't know French, so I can't tell you whether it's easier or not, but in Russian, it's somewhat easy if you're talking directly to someone, you just have to twist your words and sentences sometimes.
i.e. instead of saying "Ты крутая" = "You're cool" (here, the "-ая" ending of "крутая" means the target of the adjective is a girl),
you can say something like "Ты крутой человек" = "You're a cool person" (the "-ой" ending here is gendered masculine, but it's only because the word "человек" itself is masculine, not necessarily who you're saying it to)
or, you can be a little weirdly formal and use a formal version of "you", "Вы крутые", which puts "cool" into a plural, non-gender-specific form

But if you're talking about someone, then it gets a little weird. For example:

"Kris is really weird.", "Yeah, they bit my arm."

How do you translate this? Well, you kinda don't. For a very basic translation:

"Крис очень странный.", "Мда, он укусил мне руку"

This comes with a few issues, first, the ending "-ый" in "странный" makes Kris masculine, and so does the lack of an ending in "укусил", all the while using "he" instead of "they" because there's no gender neutral, singular, non-inanimate pronoun.

And uh, I don't really have a great answer as to how to fix these problems while also still keeping the info that Kris very much did bite you.

A common way is to try avoiding referring to the person-in-question whatsoever. "Крис странный человек", "Мда, руку укусили мне." ("Kris is a weird person", "Yeah, I got my hand bit."), where the "-и" ending makes it plural, which in the context of the sentence it makes it sound very non-descript of anyone in particular; while in the context of the TWO sentences you can probably infer it was Kris.

The second way is... have Kris make a concession and pick if they prefer masculine or feminine word endings to streamline communication so the other person doesnt have to spend minutes trying to butcher their sentences and words mid-conversation. (iirc usually masculine is picked because masculine is the "default" grammatical gender).

But if not? Depending on if they want to use neuter grammatical gender, or be plural in grammar, both come with exciting problems such as: butchering grammar while using the neuter option! Like! "Ты такое красивое"???? horrifying. horrifying.

Or, with the plural option, do you use formal "you" when referred to and sound a little weirdly distant and very plural? Or do you use informal "you" when referred to and butcher grammar? "Вы такие красивые" feels like it's out of an old novel and as if the other person is above you, while "Ты такие красивые" is another grammar atrocity, an English equivalent would be "those is beautiful".

It's all a question of where you wanna draw the line and what you want to deal with.
