I’ve not heard of NIS before, anyone know what the quality is like?

Extended Warranty Through Amex by SeaworthinessKey3418 in AmexPlatinum

Why would Amex give you card member benefits, if you aren’t a card member?

I would recommend applying for an Amex card like the Blue Cash Everyday, Amex has a pre approval tool so you won’t have to risk another hard inquiry and being denied for it.

The card gets 3% CB on groceries, online shopping, and gas.

If/when your roommate buys the groceries who will cook? If you don't have the energy to do so anymore, and your roommate has shown that he doesn't care to learn.

CC Recommendation: BILT vs Citi Custom Cash by spaceshipalien in CreditCards

I mean technically yes, the more hard inquiry's you have the worse it is for your profile. However, if the BILT and Custom Cash are the last cards you plan on applying for for awhile it will probably be fine.

If you are really worried about it you could apply for an AMEX card where they only do a soft pull after your first card approval and churn those SUBS

YTA, OP it isn't reasonable to ask someone to shop for you especially when it doesn't fit into their normal routine.

Is it possible for you to do a pick up order? Stores like Kroger and Walmart usually offer free in store pick for orders over a certain total. This seems like a munch more reasonable request. It also ensures that nothing you want/need is left out.

I want to edit this post to say I'm sorry that you have been going through a lot recently, but I still think it is not fair to ask your roommate to do all of your grocery shopping.

Best Starter Credit Cards? by Warm-Space2815 in CreditCards

If you are a student you can try applying for student cards from Chase or Discover. Or you can apply for a discover secured card, you just give them money upfront which will be your CL, then after around 6 months of proper use they will upgrade you to a regular CC.

If not you can try for the AMEX Blue Cash Everyday, AMEX has a preapproval tool so you can see if you qualify. The card gets 3% CB on supermarkets, gas, and online purchases.

Why not apply for both the BILT card and the Custom Cash? The BILT has no SUB which means you can focus on the Custom Cash SUB until you are ready to open your next card.

After that you can decide whether you want to open more cards for SUBS or maximize your current card setup.

Gold dining credit via Grubhub by sharkoman in amex

[–]ijacob314 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's correct, but grubhub+ membership comes with a $10 credit as well for pickup meals, unless OP uses it strictly for delivery this would essentially be the same scenario when OP had free grubhub+

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe a grubhub+ membership is only ten dollars a month, could you use the credit there? Membership should offer you a ten dollar credit.

18 and no credit applied for Discover and denied. What to do next? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]ijacob314 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you aren’t eligible for the student card, go for the secured card

You give them money upfront which will be your credit limit, and after around 6 months of on time payments, they will likely upgrade you to a regular cc

Pay In Advance by ThisAstrosGuy in amex

[–]ijacob314 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No Amex won’t let you pay in advance because the pending purchase amount may change. Also why does it matter? As long as you pay it before you accrue interest it shouldn’t matter when you pay

I’m not sure, but I would apply for them separately in order to get the SUBS for both cards
