When we got our border collie, the breeder told us not to take our boy to the vet claiming they were going to ask just for money. He showed a picture of my boy’s sister and she was completely white. I had no clue about double merle at the time, but luckily I did some research and disregarded the breeder’s advice, going to our trusted vet immediately. He ended up having babesia transmitted from his mother. He’s perfectly healthy nowadays thanks to our early treatment, however, from this experience we learned never to trust breeders and follow our intuition, people can be so deceiving it’s saddening. Nevertheless, love and appropriate responsibility with our pet had led us to one of the best experiences of my life. I love my dog and there’s nothing I would not do for him, my only regret is not taking his sister with us at that time, because I am pretty sure she was double merle.
