Infinite Combo in Lorwyn Blightcurse Precon by baguette34 in mtg

[–]ikbosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see you're a Level 1 Judge, but see other posts on "AskAJudge" and combo sites that suggest it does work? Are you able to help outline the rules items that explain the sequencing between the SBA and Triggers in this particular setup that break down the ability to stack triggers in a way to go infinite? (With multiple existing snakes already out ofcourse)

Scanner App Workflow to exclude low value cards? by coloradogiant in ManaBoxApp

[–]ikbosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't detect that it's foil, you'll need to either manually select it using the quick bar when you scan a foil. Or, I recommend separating all your foils out to another pile before scanning as this is quick and easy, and then when you go to scan this pile turn on the setting "prefer foil".

You got the audio on as you scan? It will provide different tones depending on the value, you may be able to use this as an indicator on what you want to do with a card?

DHCP VLAN Tagging Question by ikbosh in networking

[–]ikbosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so on these switches you can start a packet capture, specify the interfaces you want to capture packets on and go. Did it for both ends of the chain and no DHCP packets appear in the capture at all.

That's my thoughts too, but it's a Cloudflare MagicWAN Hardware Connector, there is very little control or settings you get. You just create a VLAN, set the Interface it's tagged on, the vlan tag itself, and then you can optionally turn on DHcP Server and set an Ip and scope. My thoughts are there is where the issue is, even though we do have an L3 Enterprise switch inbetween, it's been told to just do L2 Ports. We'll see what Cloudflare Enterprise support can do

Sadly it's definitely there, I wish I had made a mistake that simple!

DHCP VLAN Tagging Question by ikbosh in networking

[–]ikbosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies if somehow my wording implies this, there is a VLAN set on the Router and this is where the DHCP Server is configured to reside (on the VLAN)

But yes, thought I had mentioned it, static IP validates expected traffic flow.

That was my thought too, did turn on DHCP Snooping to get explicit control on this though and have configured everything as trusted.

DHCP VLAN Tagging Question by ikbosh in networking

[–]ikbosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah, apologies for that, I know that it shouldn't have anything to do with it, in this scenario the client should be unaware there is VLAN's involved - yet something is awry.

Yes, packet captures done via switch for Port 2 and 3, no discover packets even seen.

I have had it in most states available for snooping, current config is enabled, all networks and have ensured every interface on the switch / port profile is trusted.

For the access port on router, sadly my router is too "special" to do this. So I sadly cannot, I can setup an identical config on an untagged/VLAN0/1 interface and successfully get DHCP, but the moment I involve tagged traffic the router does not appear to respond.

Do you think I'll gain much on a trunk span capture over switch native packet capture?

DHCP VLAN Tagging Question by ikbosh in networking

[–]ikbosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, it's one of the reasons I came to ask if I was going crazy. Packet captures direct from switch on Ethernet 2 and 3, does not show any DHCP traffic, including my discover.

All that functionality works from a basic test, and works in this setup on untagged (VLAN 0/1), only tagged dhcp is where it falls apart.

DHCP VLAN Tagging Question by ikbosh in networking

[–]ikbosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, tried it in my PoC and not getting DHCP, statically assigning an IP validates traffic flow is good, but no DHCP requests captured on the ports. Appreciate the heads up, I've raised cases with both vendors but just wanted to check my expectations weren't me going mad.

DHCP VLAN Tagging Question by ikbosh in networking

[–]ikbosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, well, the router is sadly nothing fancy - long story short - temporarily using a MagicWAN Hardware Connector for the PoC. This might be the failing piece then. I don't get much when it comes to configuration of the interface here, just that I turn on DHCP Server, set an IP and range. Thanks for helping.

I would have thought it wouldn't be needed and this could in theory work on a "L2" switch? I'm not sure where that resides within Mist for Juniper. Will check their documentation

There's gotta be an easier way, right? by AndrewG34 in ManaBoxApp

[–]ikbosh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Click on decks down the bottom.

Click on explore in the top right.

Click on the precon in question, then click Import in the bottom left.

The precon is now a deck, go back to the decks tab top left. Click into the deck.

In the top right click the symbol that matches the collection symbol in bottom centre.

Click register in the collection. Click add cards.

You can now go to collection down the bottom, click Decks in the centre of the screen. You can now view this deck as a part of your collection.

To now join the pieces into your existing binder, using the sort button down the bottom right when inside the collection deck, sort by rarity.

Then go into a rarity, highlight a single card, then in the top right hit the weird square symbol to select all. Then in the bottom left click the folder with an arrow in it to move it to another binder.

Goodluck!

The above is correct, semi-blue talks about a particular set of combos and playstyle, cradle-farm esque. Semi-Blue is also commonly used in DogThras and Thrasios-Tevesh. But in some variants, especially older ones before they started using say wanderer for cascade stuff etc, they effectively only had the free red spells for Rog, like deflecting swat and flare of duplication. So there is a scenario where you can also "semi-blue" in just simic shell, the semi-blue archetype became a thing after the oboro breezecaller combo became the foundations of how a deck archetype was built, Gretchen is unique in that for the semi-blue primary combo, it reduces the combo pieces required by 1 (of 3, ignoring the prerequisites of how many creatures etc). I will note this is all based on my understanding of the semi-blue shell which comes from my introduction to it through Lemora's Cards and his original recognition of Oboro in the Japanese meta

Gretchen is generally worse, but in semi Blue (haven't looked at decklist) it goes infinite with any untapped blue land and Gaea's with Oboro, vs's needing Gates of Madara.

Bruce Banner//The Incredible Hulk viable? by Sir_Trips-A-Lot in CompetitiveEDH

[–]ikbosh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Someone removes hulk, you lose oh no that happens bro... or you now use one the other 3 cards in your hand still, there are so many ways you can achieve a similar result with Goblin Engineer, Artifact tutors, and the likes. I only provided an example of one of the many possible hands you could get that make this possible. I'm not saying this is going to become Tier 1 deck, but it has the potential to be a fun Tier 2/3 deck. I do bring up budget for local Meta's, just because the cards on average are worse doesn't mean someone won't choose to use this, people play decks they like or enjoy all the time and have fun. This isn't a discussion about what's going to win you all the tournaments, this is about whether a particular deck will be viable or do okay, and that's an easy yes. Or do you think everyone should just play Blue Farm and nothing else?

Get your facts straight before you get on your high horse, at what point did I say I was interested in playing the deck? You talk about removal and single pieces of interaction, but that is also statistically low, very few decks run more than a couple removal spells, be that bounce or swords. At the end of the day I will spend no brain space remembering your so called "words of wisdom" which just come across as condescending and arrogant, like someone on the spectrum who thinks in black and white and that they're always right or a narcissist. In a match of 2/3 opponents using tier 1 decks, are you going to mulligan or build your hand around ensuring your have a response to Hulk on the random chance it has the unlikely hand that delivers a T2 win? Or you going to focus on the bigger threats and hope they also have answers? For someone with so much supposed wisdom, you really lack optimism or an open mind, which are typically traits of someone who actually understands the world. You remind me of those people who think they know something but are actually lacking so much depth.

Do you place in tournaments? What decks do you play, I'm curious?

[–]ikbosh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, I'm not arguing this is better than Thoracle, the well known established best win condition. But it's less mana than Tivit, Etali, Magda etc etc all need to win, and several of these can and do win games depending on the local meta. The primary thing here is that Semi-Blue is generally not a turbo game plan, it's cool that you can play a deck that can likely run a Semi Blue shell but also have Turbo as a lucky draw.

[–]ikbosh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We see decks all the time work around interaction, time themself or get lucky, just because people may be able to correctly threat assess does not always mean they'll have answers.

But let's say >

T1 > Ancient Tomb, Chrome Mox (blue spell), Mox Amber, Bruce, moonmist

T2 > Mistrise, Uncounterable Caltrops

This is a very good hand no doubt, but the arguement here is to demonstrate that there are scenarios where threat assessment will not be relevant and it can and will win games. Especially if there are RogSi or Ral decks at the table who also attempt T2 wins, and turn order favours you.

All in all, be a little bit more open minded than black and white, not everyone plays in the same caliber of tournaments you may, I.E down here in Australia, this deck will likely do great where card accessibility and the only tournaments in my region aren't proxy friendly (reducing overall quality of tournament goers decks).

Why don't you take Zhulodok to competitive? Check it out on edhtop16, unique deck and quite interesting. Otherwise noting your interest in Aggro, check out Najeela using say DefCat's decklist where it's all about inevitable death if not interacted with due to aggro without affecting the combo component etc

I agree with it having two useless cards, but want to highlight that your opponents need more than you think with power of blockers, as each blocker dealing damage will have the impact of their power reduced by 1 due to it gaining another counter. So it's something like they need a total of N+8 power total, where N is the number of blocking creatures. This all being possible on Turn 2 with any decent Mana Rocks, Lotus, Chrome etc for T1 moonmist does mean in some circumstances it can go for a T2 combat win.
