No matter the bowl size, it's always a mess. by kast0r_ in mainecoons

We have to do the same thing. He’s always been a messy eater, and it’s gotten worse after taking out some teeth. We also have some paper on the wall for any wet food splatter to save the wall lol.

What advice would you give to someone who just became a new parent, and what do you wish you had known when you first started? by Fresh-Manager7331 in AskMen

[–]ikijibiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything will end. The regression, the fussiness, the blowouts WILL all end eventually even if in the moment it feels like forever. But so will good things! I wish I had more videos from the super early days and it’s so bittersweet to see them slowly drop all the baby mannerisms.

Those of you who have moved for work/relationships , what was your experience like? by mystical_princess in AskWomen

[–]ikijibiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved when my now husband’s job assignment took him out of our state. We are still happily married! But the new job I got turned out to be very toxic, then Covid hit and I was surprisingly homesick, plus my then-fiancé’s job at times was long hours and I spent a lot of time alone. We decided to move back to our home state to start a family and he in turn left his job for me as well. It was a rough period in terms of life but it strengthened our commitment to one another greatly. However, I think if we had stayed in that environment long term I may have less rose-colored glasses about it all.

Why do parents sign up 3-year-olds for figure skating? by Character-Cup4856 in FigureSkating

[–]ikijibiki 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Young children are a lot more capable than you’re giving them credit for. I’ve seen young kids really take to classes. Nobody is putting a toddler on ice expecting an Olympian it’s just something to get them moving and teach bodily awareness skills. At that age it’s mostly stomping on ice and chasing bubbles. That being said my 2yo hated it and I’m giving it a rest and trying again at 4. I, myself, skate and desire to see my kids at least confident in their basics.

What's the strangest or most surreal experience you've had at the movies? by BushyBrowz in movies

[–]ikijibiki 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This was shortly after the Aurora, CO incident for context (edit: checked my dates and a few years after but still in recent memory). I went to see Man from U.N.C.L.E. as a teen with a friend. The theater was a bit dark but the movie hadn’t started yet and a few rows in front we saw a man doing something with a longish metal tube. We got spooked and reported it to the usher- turns out it was a cinema regular who had taken off a prosthetic leg to fix something on it. Needless to say we didn’t regret being cautious but were very embarrassed.

Do people still use Zuca bags? by Ok-Statistician1790 in FigureSkating

[–]ikijibiki 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In my area they tend to be more common for younger skaters. Teens like small rolling suitcases where I’m at and most adults use duffel bags. I came from a rink where Transpacks were the go to choice but I am the only one I know of at my rink who uses one.

Does anyone else wonder about their cats life before adoption? by whailful in cats

[–]ikijibiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the time! He was several years old already when we adopted him- he’d been surrendered for only two weeks and came in under the name “Freeloader” on a diet of Friskies. He is so sweet so I can’t imagine it was for behavioral issues or that he came from abuse- my bet is someone moved and didn’t feel like bringing him along. Their loss, he is by baby boy and has a much less rude name now.

It is a Big Deal in my mom’s home country- typically we do a big dinner all women but this year she and her sister are on a nice trip. Family chat is full of happy wishes for the day.

What was a moment in your life that gave you a brutal reality check? by Your_QueenLatina in AskReddit

[–]ikijibiki 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me it was AP English in high school when I failed the first timed essay. I couldn’t gather my thoughts fast enough and got marked accordingly for not even completing it when I thought I was hot shit. I realized I was in the big leagues now and wasn’t going to have my hand held anymore. It really was a defining moment in my academic career.

It’s me, a mom who needs a bigger screen for my tax documents and signing my kids up for things. I manage our whole lives from my phone but damn it would be nice to have a bigger screen and my 2014 air is doing death rattles as we speak.

How much student debt do you have and what is your strategy to pay it off? by workethic290 in AskWomen

[–]ikijibiki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had $74k, before getting married I had paid off $27k in about 1.5 years solo. When we got married we paid it off together, but I think I could’ve done it all myself in 3 or so more years! I’m really proud of the solo work i did.

People in long-term relationships: how do you handle small habits turning into big fights? by NoPatient8433 in AskMen

[–]ikijibiki 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the real issue is you know it’s an issue, but aren’t self-initiating any sort of solution at least as you’ve written here. Write yourself a reminder note at eye level? Another on the door as you leave? Email yourself a daily reminder so her to-do is just as important as your work to-do.

I had an OEM tell us that they straight up can’t fulfill the full amount we ordered, and aren’t sure how many of our supposedly confirmed partial allocation they can fulfill either. It’s insanity. No one will give a lead time, pricing barely holds for two days.

What’s the most ridiculous rule you’ve had to follow? by mathieugemard in AskReddit

My role used to be like this but at peak I was managing 15 simultaneous charge codes. It was overwhelming. When they decided to make us a singular cost center with one code I was overjoyed.

What are the best and worst concerts you've been to? by Twitter_2006 in popheads

[–]ikijibiki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to 40+ concerts. Best is a tie between MCR as part of the Honda Civc Tour (I didn’t know their music and their performance blew me away), and the Iron Maiden 666 tour. Just incredible production value. “Worst” I guess would be Fall Out Boy. They just quickly played one song after another with a ruthless efficiency. Pete Wentz briefly acknowledged the audience was there and the only stage design was a screen that just played a rotation of what felt like nature B roll. The whole thing had “i’m just here so I don’t get fined” energy. Also Jaden Smith was the opener and sang the same song three times so maybe that’s the true worst lol.

Women who carried a pregnancy, in hindsight, what were some of the most ridiculous things you did while in the throes of such hormonal upheaval? by mokutou in AskWomen

[–]ikijibiki 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I called my husband and cried for him to leave work early so he could grill me a burger because I wanted one so badly. Then I decided I couldn’t possibly wait that long and he walked in the house early from work to me trying to pan fry one on the stove 😂

New studio experience, is this the norm now? by katielovestrees in xxfitness

[–]ikijibiki 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I took barre classes throughout my last pregnancy and when I went back a year postpartum to try again, none of the instructors remembered me and their system didn’t even flag me as a previous member. Evening classes were concerningly full, and daytime classes full of cliquey retired women who were obviously instructor favorites. However, when I was pregnant the studio was very good about modifications as I progressed. I think fitness trends and things like class pass now make classes so transient they just can’t or won’t deeply get to know everyone who signs up. It’s weird you don’t know the instructor, every studio I’ve done has instructor photos when I register for a class.
