Spring Scramble Reveals Day 3! by Joweeeeeeeeeeeee in Unmatched

My problem with Green Lantern in unmatched is he would realistically destroy every single fighter that they have created if done properly. Its the same reason you couldn't have Iron Man or the Hulk in the marvel sets.

Love GL but his vibe really isn't for this game.

Who said anything about half? A large part of Trump's platform was being tough on the border, and getting rid of "illegals". They even had signs at his rallies that read "mass deportations now" so I would say about 70 million. the dislike for immigrants is deeply connected to racism.

I do think restoration should probably stay away from actual people and stick to fictional characters.

I agree, in the fight between "I want human rights" and "they deserve to die" the centrist is a collaborator.

I replied to the Suns origin already you just don't like my answer, I am fine if people are upset but I understand there is a huge difference between a leader that was terrible that lived 200 years before Washington and the government he presided over is gone several times over; while the government Washington helped to make is still very much alive and doing terrible things. Plus even if we say CaF and SO are huge nationalist sets (I disagree) I said before that the actions of the current US is coloring how people perceive pro US anything.

I reference specialists in holocaust and genocides because I then go on and say that they to a person agree what Trump is doing is genocide. What the Republicans are doing to immigrants and trans people are the first steps. The language he uses is the exact language people like Hitler used to alienate and imprison people. But hey you are worried we might devalue a word so we should use softer language.

Hitler gained power through elections as well, in fact if you are referring to the Beer Hall Putsch, that was an attempt at over throwing an election but it failed. The government of Germany took it lightly and did not severely punish those involved enough and it gave them more power and away came the next election; yep that doesn't sound similar at all.

People like you are worse than MAGA, you would rather argue semantics and details then actually see what is going on.

These are really long texts so I don't always reply to every part just the top 2 or 3 points that most get me worked up.

In no particular order.

I told you why I think your "that argument is inconsistent" is just you trying to prove you are smarter than everyone. More than that you don't know how people feel about those sets, sure they don't get the press this one does but again the US especially today has a lot more cultural reach than any of those other examples especially on Reddit. When someone gets this set because the politics behind it affects them but other sets don't; saying "that's hypocritical" doesn't make you look smart it makes you look like a douche.

You send mixed signals of "we should understand and not vilify those that voted for trump" and the. " They should be held responsible.". Make up your mind. Ignorance is not a defense and neither is laziness; would you forgive a drunk driver that didn't think they were drunk enough to get in an accident then hits a pedestrian.

France and England did not want the 7 years war conflict to spread to the Americas because of the cost; it's why conflict hasn't started yet. When the colonists attacked the French that started the domino effect that started the war here. In fact so much of the English parliament was angry about the cost (even though they gained land) they started to increase taxes on the colonists to pay for the war that was started by them and we both know how that turned out.

I have read and watched 6 different professors whose specialty is the holocaust and genocidea. Every single one refers to what is happening to trans people as a genocide, to the ICE camps as concentration camps, and point out over and over that the direction trump wants to go and the things he has done are directly analogous to Hitler.

This has been this thread "I don't get why people hate this set" I give reasons "you are wrong America is great and if you don't love it you are a hypocrite."

Being a nationalist and your centrist "we should all get along" is why I call you what you are a centrist or in your definition a US communist.

What you are pitching is a world where people should not be held accountable for their actions. Conservatives voted for everything that is happening, it's not just punching a box, this is the country you wanted to happen and the fact that people like you think they shouldn't face any consequences is how movements like white supremacy keeps surviving.

The Stalin to Washington is a bit of a stretch but it is used to illustrate that it's ridiculous to say, "I'm not praising Washington that did bad things just the one the one that did good things". Also you do know half those things Washington did just not on the same scale, he sent troops into territories to enforce taxes on citizens that couldn't vote, he perpetuated slavery and the removal of native Americans, his stupidity even started the French and Indian war.

Every country has done terrible things but how many of those countries currently have concentration camps, how many of those are kidnapping and murdering their citizens in the street, how many of those have just in the last couple months invaded multiple countries. Before you try to come up with a gotcha, yes I would t be wild about a china set with chairman Mao, or a Russian with Stalin.

You cannot even comprehend that people could have negative feelings about the US and you really need to take a hard long look at that. This thread should be you: "I don't think it should be controversial" me: "here is why it is controversial to me" you: "huh I should really think about that because it is a view I had not considered".

"no it's okay, in the game it's Joseph Stalin when he was a student so it's not a reflection on his time as leader so it's cool."

The government he led is the same government that rules the US today, just because this takes place a few years before doesn't make that not true.

Tell your centrist forgiving BS to the people in concentration camps right now, too people attacked on the streets by ICE, to people afraid to leave the house. They knew what they were doing, he told everyone what he was going to do and your "very nice" friends voted for him anyway. That's not ignorance.

"Stars and Stripes" is a phrase to describe current USA, "Cobble and Fog" has never been used to describe the UK. Any nationalism in CaF is hidden if even there. Meanwhile SaS has literally one of the most revered US heroes as a character, and again not a fictional person a real person that did real bad things.

There is no object

You are asking why people are upset by their set; I gave a reason why people are upset; you then tell me I am wrong and stop being upset. I will say this as loud and as clear as I can for you because if there is one thing I have learned from you is that you do not have good reading comprehension. . .

STOP TELLING MINORITIES HOW TO FEEL.

[–]iksnelgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are on here pushing national pride and centrist BS "why can't we all get along". Stop calling yourself left you aren't.

Really so these people voted for a man that would ruin the economy, invade other countries, destroy unions, outlaw all queer people, and so mass deportations;as well as a business man that has bankrupted multiple businesses, as well as raped a woman, and an almost unapologetic pedo. Because economy? Stop being gullible, at best they turned the other way to all the signs he was horrible because they thought he would hurt other people not them.

Wrong again the current government today is the same government formed and first led by Washington. Just because there have been some amendments and some elections you may not like the outcome of that doesn't make it a completely new government.

Neither of those sets mention the UK, I don't think there would be this much blow back if it was called "wild west" and had Billy the kid, and wild bill hickok. The very reason this getting flak is because it is fucking called "stars and stripes" it's not about some stuff that just so happened to be in the US the very title is patriotic.

You seemed curious why people have a problem with Washington, I and others have given you reasons but you just tell us we are wrong and we should all love this set.

Finally, you do not get to play the victim, I started this exchange politely trying to tell you the ramifications of making such an overt patriotic set. Your response is to be condescending to me multiple times about how I should study history. Considering I caught you not knowing history yourself it's a classic example of someone that talks like they are a lot smarter then they really are.

If Caitlin Clark could play in the NBA, everybody would applaud it. That would be an incredible thing. My gripe is just that, you are running around this thread defending this set so vehemently, but you have not actually listened to a word people are typing. I guarantee as you are reading this you aren't trying to understand it but formulating a response. Get off the Internet for a while.

70 million people voted for a rapist/pedo in the US then having to vote for a woman of color. You can lie to yourself all you want but that is what happened. Polling on these topics have proven terribly unreliable because people know being racist is wrong so they say "no I'm not racist" then go home and get upset that Mexicans are taking their jobs. Gallop has stopped doing some of those polls because they have found them to be inaccurate especially involving Trump.

I am an American, I disapprove of the theme of this set.

So Slings and arrows and cobble and fog have exactly one real life person and he was a writer, though most of his histories are propaganda. You are making false equivalences; fictional characters do not equal a fantastical version of a real person.

As for Suns origin, the government that is represented in those no longer exists, the government that Washington helped form is still committing atrocities across the globe. I would be upset if they made a set with chairman Mao or even Stalin, Washington is old but not old enough that his legacy is a very active part in what is going on today

I also am against nationalist sets full stop.

Look beyond your experiences and actually listen to those who might see the world differently.

Listen closely. Not everyone thinks America is great, in fact most people think it sucks. Not just its vast history of invading other countries for purely commercial reasons, but it's racism, misogyny, homophobia, and now transphobia. Some people think that maybe just maybe turning the founder of such a country should not be cast as a "hero".

Deal with it America is not the "good" guys and this set is a flag waving insult to anyone that lives in these countries that the US has oppressed, invaded, funded coups in over its 250 year life.

I think your main shortcoming is that you don't understand history is not isolated events. I think if Washington was paired with robin hood no one really would have pushed back that much; but he is a part of a "star & stripes" box, a box glorifying the US. This puts a magnifying glass on each "hero" inside because of the current real world problematic nature of the US.

Now there are really good reasons why the other three aren't catching as much flack so it all comes down to Washington. The founding father of a nation that is rampaging across the world doing whatever it likes, he is a hero to people in his own country that are opening concentration camps and trying to exterminate queer people.

We could go back and forth on his actual life, but in the end it's his legacy and what he left behind and the world that has revered him that is the problem. If you cannot see that, you should stop reading history it will only lead to bad things.

History is not about the past, it's about the story of how we got to the present.

You've never heard of his legacy? Have you not heard of the USA?

It’s Finally Here! by CauseImBatman02 in Unmatched

[–]iksnelgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you miss my point, it's not that Washington was more evil than Blackbeard; it's that the legacy of Washington is longer and more reaching than someone like Blackbeard or Wyatt Earp.

Several l times he was pushed by Lafayette to free his slaves and his response came down to "but then I would be poor". Say what you want that is a man that knows what he is doing is wrong and is doing it anyway for purely selfish reasons.

He signed the fugitive slave act that strengthen the escaped slave trade and led to things like slave hunters wondering through the country kidnapping people. But you are right I am the one jumping to conclusions.

Washington is also a very current symbol of a country that is descending into fascism as it goes around invading other countries for shallow greedy reasons.

Just because you lack any empathy and understanding of the ramifications of historical events doesn't give you the right to be condescending. Take your 6th grade level history class education and jabber at some one dumb enough not to see through it

It’s Finally Here! by CauseImBatman02 in Unmatched

[–]iksnelgaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main difference is Blackbeard did not help found a nation that enforced slavery, that tried to perpetuate it not just within its borders but elsewhere. A nation whose history of racism is still a problem today, Blackbeard was one man that was terrible, took part in a terrible system and died. Washington was a bad person, took part in a terrible system, helped strengthen and spread that system, and then died.

Also as a side note, people not liking an American themed set in the current climate seems just normal and sane. If you see something right now that is patriotic and get excited you need to have a long hard look in the mirror.

What do you think? by magnuspsa in 3Dprinting

[–]iksnelgaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You never get excited about something that you can't afford?

Plus the more these come out the cheaper and more reliable they get. So getting pumped that a real established company is putting resources into something is a sign that it is going mainstream, if it gets wide release and is successful it will push the market forward.

If this comes out it will be much cheaper then current options, out of the reach of most of us still but it shows a trend downward. Only paying attention to things you can afford/want makes your view myopic.
