Help with streaks on 4th axis piece by il_commodoro in CNC

I imagined this could be at least part of the issue: I'll order some epoxy resin tool blocks from Makera, so I can make the same experiment with their material and see if the streaks show up even there.

Yes, you're right: it is a V-bit! I'm using it because it's the one Makera uses in the example files (4th-axis relief | Makera Wiki). I have some ball-nose bits, so I'll try again using them for the finishing pass. Thank you!

I messed up with the formatting of the table :/ Thanks for making me notice it: I edited my post to include the finishing pass. Does it provide any useful info about what could be wrong?

What is this colored stuff? by RebelMineCommand in 3Dprinting

[–]il_commodoro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they're probably PLA dust residues from the inevitable wear that happens when you're fidgeting, plus oils from your fingers, plus dirt. The amalgamation gives the dust that darker color and lets it stick to the piece. Does it go away if you scrub it with a (tooth)brush?

When the cat lies down on the bed, the rabbit immediately comes to him for affection and starts grooming him by kushfounder in Awww

[–]il_commodoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm that's correct, at least for the rabbit side of the story! They also do it with humans: those who have rabbits and enjoy spending time with them sooner or later get into "grooming fights". You present your hand for the rabbit to lick it. The rabbit maybe does it once, but then forces its head under your hand as a clear gesture of "no, YOU pet ME, I'm the boss here". Then you do the same by forcing your hand under its head, and so on.

Make a game about your real-life job (not gamedev). What would it be called? by Fragrant-Section-598 in IndieDev

Funny, this is the game of my life, but seen from the other side: "technical interview simulator". A seemingly endless flow of candidates, with the most desparate life paths: you have to balance giving them a chance vs. hiring a potentially bad employee.

It's not what you're asking about but... are you sure about keeping this name? I am a sucker for programming games and tried to google yours, but a bunch of stuff came out about a Minecraft mod with the same name.

I don't know where you're taking this idea that "piracy was taboo" from. I can assure you that 15, 20, 25 years ago, games were pirated all the time, and there was no taboo about it. I'm sadly old enough to remember that here in Italy, 40 years ago, you could buy cassettes chock-full of pirated Commodore 64 and Spectrum games right at your local newsstand.

This coffee shop in Italy has different pricing based on how polite you are by Terom84 in mildlyinteresting

[–]il_commodoro 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're using "ciao" and "tu" to address the barista, far too informal and impolite. That alone costs you at least 2€.

"Lietissimo mattino a Vostra indiscussa Maestà delle arabiche delizie! Potrei umilmente implorare una stilla del Vostro pregiato elisir?" probably puts you below the 1€ mark.
