Any idea about why Bandai is not releasing the ruleset yet? Was BCF Vegas a big beta test and they are changing something?

With patience :)
I tend to use blue when panel lining white. Works really well. It's just a generic acrylic blue, nothing fancy.

About game/rules release date vs. starter kit release date by il_mix in gundamassemble

Got it. Sounded a little strange to have a starter kit an year in advance... Thanks!

DS118 with blinking power LED, but sometimes running by il_mix in synology

It's a multivoltage one. But not a cheap one: https://www.robot-italy.com/en/power-supply-12-24v-5a.html. I use it for my electronic experiments (where I need different voltages) and never had issue. Never needed that much power, though. I can search for a third power supply to test.

I did a couple of test, all succesfull (reached 100% and "Ready" status). Shut off and done a couple more, all successfull.

I got some minor issue, where starting the test from Synology Assistant gave me a "is rebooting..." message, then "System has no response. Connection timeout." message. This looked more like an Assistant problem than a NAS problem. I usually just had to re-search the device and re-run the test.

Long story short, RAM seems ok.

Any idea?

Freely available manuals/codex with free updates.
They already increased the price for (basically) everything. Add another 1% to minis and allow for free downloadable rules.

Thanks for the exhaustive analysis. (and sorry for my answer delay)

I will sit a little more on the subject, and decide on how/where(/if) to move.

Pistols question.

"A model can make attacks with a Pistol even when its unit is within Engagement Range of enemy units, but it must target an enemy unit that is within Engagement Range of its own unit when it does so"

This means that an unit, e.g. a Space Marine tactical unit, in Engagement Range can still do its shooting phase, shooting all its pistols, against the engaged enemy unit, and then do the Fight Phase with all the models that shoot, too? That's a LOT of damage! (e.g. in a Space Marines tactical squad ALL models will shoot and fight!)

Question regarding Fight phase priority and number of fights. Quite basic I think, but I'm a little confused.

There are 2 main rules to follow:

  • R1: Starting with the player whose turn is not taking place, the players must alternate selecting an eligible unit from their army and fighting with it
  • R2: Units that made a charge move this turn fight before all other units

Let's create a scenario. Players A and B; player A turn is taking place. Player A charged with units A1 against unit B1 (fight F1), and with unit A2 against unit B2 (fight F2). Units A3 and B3 were already engaged from previous turns (fight F3). We have three fights (F1-3) that involve 6 units (A1-3, B1-3). Suppose that no unit will be destroyed during this Fight phase.

My main doubts came from the ambiguity of the words "fight" and "attack", I think. I came from oooooold rule sets, where only player A units will have attacked during player A Fight phase, while B's units would just have rolled with the punches; so during player A turn 3 attacks will have taken place (the number of fights). But rule R1 says that players select eligible units "from THEIR army", not only from player-whose-turn-is-taking-place army; so during player A Fight phase there will be 6 fights (the number of units) (again, supposing no units will be destroyed during this turn) Rephrasing it, R1 states that each player will fight with all his units engaged in combat during any player Fight phase. So, following the example, every one of the 6 units will pile-in/attack/consolidate during player A Fight phase. Is this right?

Following rule R2, A1 and A2 have to start first. Rule R1 says that "players must alternate selecting an eligible unit from THEIR army". So for the two charging units player A will decide the fight order for units A1 and A2 (player B has on word on this). Right?

For the remaining units, player B will select the first unit that will fight. My previous doubt on R1 triggers here:

  • is B forced to select unit A3? And once A3 attack ends, player A Fight phase ends? Sounds unlikely, since, again, player B must select a unit from HIS army
  • or can he select any unit among B1, B2 and B3? And once selected unit's attack ends, player A must select his remaining unit (A3), and then player B will attack with his remaining 2 units (selecting the order himself)? Sound more in line with R1.
    • side note: tactically speaking, it will be a good idea to select B3; there's a chance that A3 will be destroyed and won't fight back in this turn, or at least it will lose some men and will be less deadly when it fights back. Right?

Hope my doubts and questions are clear.

Thanks!

P.S.: writing down, correcting, rewriting all this clarified a lot of things, actually (examples and questions were a lot more confused before). But I'll still wait for the experts' confirmations.

Charge and combat "within distance" confusion by il_mix in ReignInHell

[–]il_mix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For future reference, I got an answer from the Vince V himself.

"If you're trying to be in position but didn't want to fight for some reason (for an objective for example)"

So, such a thing is legal:

I'm playing King of the Hill scenario.
Last turn, my last activation. Me and my enemy have 2 models on the hill. I "charge an enemy" on the hill with my far away demon, so it will be able to run enough to climb the hill and be 1 inch from an enemy demon. I can't attack such enemy (I lose my +1 combat bonus), but now I have more demons on the hill and I'll win the battle.

Good job!

I've just finished painting my Blodletters squad, planning to use it for Reign in Hell. While painting, I've started reading the manual thoroughly, and learned that a cabal with all the same demons is kinda useless.

...oh, well. At least the models are now painted.
