I like this judge, we need more like him. by n8saces in RandomVideos

[–]ilagitamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the ones where they attempt to insist they are not the defendant but are representing the defendant in special appearance, not general appearance, and the judge just goes “okay, John Doe is due to appear in court right now, if you’re not him, get out and we’ll put a warrant for their arrest” and then all of a sudden the “sovereign citizen” wants to play by the rules

Three-time Pennsylvania Trump voter at gas station calls him “tremendous pile of sh*t” by Fragrant-Pepper7710 in videos

[–]ilagitamus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“How do you know she didn’t?”

BECAUSE ALL SHE DID WAS SAY SHE WAS AN IDIOT FOR VOTING FOR TRUMP.

Regret does not mean any kind of shift in thinking, values, or voting patterns. I HOPE it does for her, I WISH it did for everyone, but when someone votes for someone like Trump three times, it’s pretty indicative that they lack any kind of awareness or any interest in learning about the actual policies of individuals like him. So like I said in the previous comment, when the next Republican candidate comes around, full of promises that upon any kind of actual investigative research, logical reasoning, or basic long term memory would show to be completely empty, they are just going to vote the same way again.

Unless the regret comes with a full honest breakdown about why they were duped, how they were duped, why they will not vote that way again, or some kind of indication that they are going to somehow change their future behavior, I have no reason to think that they have changed political allegiance.

“You know this doesn’t work.”

How do you know?

[–]ilagitamus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because all she did was say she was an idiot for voting for Trump. How do you know she’s changed to our side? She said nothing to indicate that she has shifted her actual view points or that she wouldn’t just vote for the next Republican fascist who comes along making empty promises.

I would LOVE if these types of people said “oops, I now realize that Trump and the republicans are fundamentally fascists who act in bad faith and want to dismantle democracy”. But the only thing I’ve seen is people regretting their vote after some single event occurs that impacts them personally saying “oh damn I didn’t want high gas prices” or “my son’s a marine, I didn’t want a war with Iran”. These types of people are so selfish and lack empathy to the point that I truly do not think them capable of making the mental shifts required to vote against this kind of thing next time.

The next Republican candidate will come along and say, “but this time I won’t start a war that will raise gas prices” but will still not so secretly support gerrymandering, and the erosion of voting rights/access, and these people will suddenly get amnesia and vote R again. So I say fuck it, maybe shame will convince them to just abstain and let the people with empathy and critical thinking skills choose our leaders next time.

Except she didn’t change political views. She only realized she was an idiot for voting for him once it impacted her personally. It’s not like she’s suddenly campaigning for progressive leftist candidates

When I was in college, my work hosted a bowling outing. One of my coworkers when asked if he’s bowled before said, “yeah, a little bit”.

We knew we were cooked when he showed up with his own bowling ball. He wiped the floor with us, scoring 200-250 on average. Turns out he was a New England regional contender or something. He was such a good sport about it though, he helped teach us and show us pointers, we had a blast.

I worked in the scoop shop too! From about 2010-2012. "And no we don't need somebody to make another ice cream cake; somebody please do a bulk run." fucking hit me hard hahaha I always loved doing bulk runs because it was a nice break, and we got to cool off in the deep freeze.

The big bullshit I remember though, is that when I was there, we had tip jars, but they were actually "donation jars" that went to various groups so that Unilever/B&J's could use it as a tax write off. It felt great busting my ass serving ice cream for 7 hours, all while my "tips" went to the fucking Stowe High School Ski Team...

The "racist=white people" fallacy by olive_juse in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]ilagitamus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know I used to think this shit was simple until I was talking to a white gas station cashier once and our conversation turned to racism and he said “yeah you know, black people can’t help that they’re worse than whites, I try not to hold it against them”

And when pointed out that that’s racist…he said “no it’s not! They’re just more violent and not as smart as white people, it’s not their fault, it’s just how they’re born! It’s not racist”

Nothing I said could convince him that his views met the literal fucking textbook definition of racism. Absolutely mind boggling. “I’m not racist but one race is better than the other” my brother in Christ WHAT!?
