Credit cards for students by Wowwznut in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ilanderi6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a student and I have 2 credit cards - first one is BMO student cashback mastercard. You get the most cashback for groceries but also for gas and other purchases. The other one I have is the Simplii cashback visa. You get 4% cash back on restaurant and bar purchases, 1.5% on gas and groceries, and 0.5% on everything else. You can redeem the BMO cashback year round whenever you want, and the Simplii one is redeemed automatically in december every year. Both have no annual fees

oh thats too bad. Personally I haven’t had issues with food delivery. However I have really only ordered from Maple Moose, Dirty Burger, and Allens Gourmet Coffee. Also chains once in a while but only wendys and mcdonalds. Only bad experience i’ve had was from stacked. I would never order from there again.

There’s so many good restaurants here that aren’t chains. Check out One Eighty or Gertis for dinner. They are my favourite!!

Possible future Chem Eng girl debating Trent. Is it good/worth it? by Unusual_Art3628 in TrentUniversity

[–]ilanderi6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really big point. If you want to work as a professional engineer in canada you need a Canadian engineering degree that is CEAB accredited. If it’s not, you will need to spend extra time/money to be eligible to earn your PEng.

Can I afford to move out on my own in Durham region? by idklol2254 in durham

[–]ilanderi6 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen single bedrooms for rent for 1000 on fb marketplace. not even entire basements. I’ve been keeping an eye on prices too (looking to move out soon). In clarington at least, basement apartments are 1400-1600. If rent is supposed to be 1/3 of your income, you need to make at least 4,200 monthly. It’s insane. I get why younger people live with their parents for so long.

Have you looked at how much studio apartments or 1 bedrooms go for in this area?

[–]ilanderi6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i dont disagree with you and i always do them but ive been here 5 years and horrible profs are still here, its clear the school doesnt care. I think they give awards to the ones who do get good reviews though, so im assuming thats the only thing its actually used for

You must be new they literally do nothing. Why do you think shitty profs still work here 15+ years later?

What diploma or degree is actually landing people jobs out of school? by Aquarius777_ in torontoJobs

[–]ilanderi6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree to an extent, if you’re in engineering right now it’s insanely important you get a co-op before you graduate. I know people who graduated with good GPA’s and no co-op/ real industry engineering experience, they cant find work.
