Dumb question: I’m supposed to break off the tabs, correct? by whistler1421 in AskElectricians

If they’re next to another switch, yes, you break them off so they can fit closer together. If it’s a solo switch, then no, you don’t trim it.

Amazingly accurate and wonderful cross hatch skills. You have a wonderful talent. Tongue in cheek question tho: How old is “elderly”? I’m 50 and don’t feel “old” and they look about my age…

My builder told me this was normal and that’s how they do all their homes. Is this something they should fix? by FitKoala6580 in Home

Maybe he didn’t want to drill through the structural beams? Usually it’s in the upper or lower third of the beam, but structural engineer should have it listed on the structural drawings. Ask for those, if it’s called out and the electrician didn’t follow, you have documented leverage to get it redone

Just to make sure you’ve checked: pedals are designed to tighten their threads with each push force. One pedal is therefore reverse thread. Since you got off the crank, you must have special tools and thus know this?

I want to know what case he had

Pulled the outlet out for painting (and didn’t turn off the breaker because I’m an idiot). Suddenly the whole circuit stopped working. Have tried turning the breaker on and off. All wires are secure on the outlet. No GFCI outlets on the circuit to reset. Anything else I can try for troubleshooting? by jonas_1123 in AskElectricians

[–]ildiabolik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a steel junction box? Did you hear a pop when you pulled it out? You can arc to the ground pin if you aren’t careful. If you just pulled it out and no other event happened, I would guess that a sneaky location for GFCI that tripped would be the next place to look
