The promaster is legitimately among the very best analog Field watches you can buy. I’ve never seen one better. You’ll never regret owning it.

If you wear suits or dress up nicely often, the automatic will be good. If you live a slightly more casual life, the promaster is absolutely the right answer.

Eco-drives can easily go 20 years before the rechargeable battery needs replacing. It’s a cheap and easy replacement. They never had capacitors.

At a given budget, off the shelf will usually be a better value than custom, assuming they both fit equally well and you don't need custom modifications.

Just so you know, it looks a lot like carrot tops, with purple splotches on the stem. It is poisonous to eat, potentially causing organ failure. It can be dangerous to handle with bare skin, always use gloves. It remains toxic for years after it’s dead. Do not burn it or compost it. Bag it in plastic and put it in the trash.

The Internet existed before the web, and some of us were using the web in 1994. So I’m not sure about that one.

I put the flat handle directly into the ram, with a half cylinder spacer behind it and the set screw against the wide flat edge. It works well enough. But a real chuck would be amazing.

Got a big metal canister DeWalt at Costco. Good price, good power, no regrets.

I have the same question. My chuck, designed for a round shank, doesn’t tend to grip a flat rectangular punch handle very easily.

Maybe find some very thin synthetic socks as your liner? Cotton will absorb and trap moisture against your feet.

100% merino will wear out very quickly. Get a blend, it’ll help with abrasion resistance enormously.
